Huh? Loretta Lynch ring a bell....

@Patrick not sure if it would be easy, but you should ban paywall sites from being linked here. Pain in the ass when you want to try and get into a constructive debate and the person uses data/info that I have zero interest in paying for.

And posters can then just hide behind the fact that no one can read the damn thing to fact check it. Kind of like a boxer punching below the belt and winning fights because of it. Link to sources people can read, otherwise I'm shifting to the mindset that it's bullshit. Media companies can make money without subscriptions....

Credentials matter though. Don't you trust doctors with your life, more than laypeople who don't have any expertise, or worse, whose opinion is largely ruled by what news channel they watch?

Nope. I actually don't trust doctors at all. You trust Realtors? They've been trained and credentialed. How about trained chefs? In theory their food should be perfect because they're trained and credentialed in the field.

You're debating with someone that has been misdiagnosed by 3 different doctors for a relatively severe ailment. My father had cancer and multiple doctors fucked up multiple times over a decade with him. We're talking top notch hospitals (supposedly) in the Chicagoland region. Even the best of the best gas station cashiers will fuck up a count on the drawer and miss money. People's blind faith in credentials is hysterical. But hey, keep drinking the Koolaid because someone can read books well and test well.

Nah, it just seems that way because more unethical and unlawful activity is happening on the Left. That's like saying it's racist and biased against Blacks to say they commit a lot of crime, when in fact they proportionally commit far more crime than any other race. Just facts.

Liberals being racist by injecting race into politics. It's powerful and until the Left have fully exposed their true motive. They don't give a fuck about Black People, Brown People, Latino People and most of all White People. Their only interest in Race is the powerful weapon they wield it as, to get any opposition to their disastrous policies and ideas out of the way. It's a communist ploy to destroy societies and inject oppression and classicism and socialism. Where the poor are fucked, and the ruling class live in the lap of luxury. Most Democrats envision themselves as one of the guys that get to live in the big house when Communism takes hold. They have no earthly idea, they have only been pawns and useful idiots. They will be liquidated the minute a Maduro, Stalin, Bernie Sanders, Castro or Andrew Como gets in power.

Just look at how they are acting over a common cold. Your chances of getting CV19 are about the same as winning a $10,000 from scratch off Lotto ticket.

If the incoming Commie regime doesn't liquidate them, the impeding Revolt and reclamation of our Country will make sure they don't survive.

Americans are fucking awesome at doling out comeuppance.

This. I had a few years with a very poorly understood and never properly diagnosed condition after terminal shit such as Aids was ruled out (CFS/PVFS) that left me reeling, worst years of my life. I eventually cured myself with a novel immune stimulant that was hard to get by customs and semi legal and slowly picking up exercise and went all the way to run a few half marathons. I had highly paid MDs looking up the medical encyclopedia to search for terms and conditions I suggested to them right in front of me, this was when I (with a medical degree myself) walked out and realized most MDs were useless. I have great respect for some of the stuff surgeons do but outside of surgery you should only visit MDs to get access to diagnostic tests, then educate yourself and decide the best course of action if any needed. Most of their knowledge is 20 years old from Medical School books and they never brush up on newest studies but push pills instead. Their credentials mean shit. At least one surgeon back then was honest and said 'we don't know anything about modern or novel conditions so outside of surgery I won't treat' .

We had a similar situation with my dad. Over and over, the doctors were much more clueless than the nurses, because the doctors just swoop in and out, not really taking much time, while the nurses are there with the patient over the longer term and actually personally do stuff all the time and know how it's likely to go.

Even the nurses make mistakes, especially when they get rotated into a new patient.

You really are responsible for your own treatment, and that of your family. No doctor or even nurse really cares as much and they are not paying all that much attention.

Yet many here treat an epidemiologist's word as religion. They treat scientific MODELS as fact. They're models, they mean fucking nothing when one says 10k deaths and another says 2M. I don't care about SIP either. Might as well play Russian roulette if you want to follow these models. Everyone I know is still generally going out. During the most contagious phase of this most everything was wide open. It's like humans got on set retardation or something.

I'm not an anti vax person either. I just don't trust humans, plain and simple. Way too many people are putting faith into too few humans in all this. We don't know anyone's motivation or their actual skill regardless of the framed paper on the wall in an office. I have an FAA license and a brokers license, no joke. I don't practice either, but does that still make me an expert?

Sorry for the rant. Just getting frustrated in people putting all their eggs in one basket and believe that basket is the best/safest. It's not. And history will prove that.

@WookieMan Good idea, but how to tell? It's possible to grab a url when someone is posting and look at the text, but then what? It seems technically quite hard to do, especially since they often give an excerpt for free.

But maybe there should be a "paywall" flag on the comment or post that a reader can click to alert others that the link content is not easily available.

The Inspector General is an appointee in the Executive Branch, and serves at the pleasure of the President (or whichever department head that makes the appointment). You are a fraud for cutting off the sentence where you did; let me finish it for you: " . . . within the agency." In other words, the inspector general should report to his/her superior who has made the appointment.

The very idea that Inspector Generals and other bureaucrats can form their own network and work clandestinely against the will of the people who have expressed their wishes in elections every step of the way, and somehow fancy themselves as an overseer of government, is a direct violation of the bureaucrats' oaths to uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Tim Aurora says
What is the role of the inspector general?

A U.S. federal inspector general (IG) is the head of an independent, non-partisan organization established within each executive branch agency assigned to audit the agency's operation in order to discover and investigate cases of misconduct, waste, fraud and other abuse of government procedures occurring within the .

There's a pretty clear path out of this -- drop the curve, re-open the economy, keep high-risk at home, test and contact trace like South Korea.

You don't have to answer, but are you Asian? Or are you old? You seem way too defensive on this subject.

The only curve dropping we need to do is make sure old/weak people don't go out. Re-"open" the economy tomorrow, not May 1st. We haven't been testing the healthy at all. No models or "scientists" have any idea how many people have had this. We're basing this all off of pure fiction. Pure bullshit.

We can trace active cases all day. Most are under the assumptions this came to the states in January. It's pure retardation to not understand that this has been around IN the US since November and December. The Chinese have actively been lying and they have simply given up on record keeping of their own virus. Hence why I ask my original question.

You're also very much blind to the fact that re-opening the economy will be too late by May 1st. The damage will be too severe. Maybe I'm better off than others, but what the fuck does $2,400 do for a couple that just got their first jobs and then just lost them? On the low end that's rent and a car payment. Eeesh there’s a lot wrong with your post starting with the fact this wasn’t here in Nov and Dec. It was just a. Bad strain of flu.

Next, the $2400 is just a bonus. They’ll be eligible for UE even if they’ve only been working a. Short time. In CA UE is up to about $420 a week plus the feds $600.

Hey, not my place to judge, but if you want to trust Chinese data I won't stop you. I don't believe a damn thing coming out of that country. If we don't know there's a new virus that causes pneumonia, most doctors are going to assume it's pneumonia. There's zero reason to look for other causes. Likely would take 30-60 days to develop a trend and cause concern. The Chinese "supposedly" had an idea around Dec. 10th. My guess is it was substantially earlier. There were hundreds of thousands that traveled between the US and China/Asia during October-December.

You know anyone that filed for UE and is getting it yet? UE isn't a full paycheck either. Restaurant workers are reliant on tips they don't report, let's be honest. The $2,400 is a one time thing if you don't make any money and will likely get pissed away. The assumption that we just open up as normal, even assuming there won't be restrictions (there will be), businesses will go bust regardless of the stimulus. Fact remains that someone has to pay for this stimulus. We're likely entering a recession, best case.

I'm just being realistic. Not trying to make friends here. People need to understand that this crisis is level 10 out of 10 and it has nothing to do with the virus. It never had anything to do with the virus.

That's not counting pneumonia (50k/year) or the OTHER strains of common cold, either. Pneumonia even got mighty Jack Lalanne.

This Coronavirus is just another strain of it, itself another strain of the common cold viruses:

Many different respiratory viruses can cause the common cold, but rhinoviruses are the most common. Rhinoviruses can also trigger asthma attacks and have been linked to sinus and ear infections. Other viruses that can cause colds include respiratory syncytial virus, human parainfluenza viruses, adenovirus, human coronaviruses, and human metapneumovirus.

This is a terrible response.

#1 in many situations, indecisiveness can make a problem worse.

#2 it doesn’t apply here. All the action that can be taken is in fact currently being taken.

“Yeah, look, I mean … we’re involved in 68 lawsuits with the Trump administration. I’ve been on your show, I haven’t been timid. He certainly hasn’t been timid,” Newsom responded. “But I got to say this, it’s just the fact. I’d be lying to you. I’d be lying to the American people. Every single direct request that he was capable of meeting he has met. We have the U.S.N.S Mercy in California because of his direct intervention and support; 2,000 of these federal medical stations because of his direct support.”

“And so I can only speak for myself, but I have to be complimentary, otherwise I would be simply lying to you, misleading you,” Newsom continued. “And that is a wonderful thing to be able to say, and I hope that continues. But this has been a remarkable moment, or at least we’ve been able to rise above that partisanship.”

https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrat-gov-newsom-trump-has-met-every-single-direct-request-that-he-was-capable-of-meeting

#3 the overwhelming sentiment on Pat.net is that we need to consider the cost of having a near non existent economy. How long that goes on for...is still being debated here but understandably the natives are restless.
