Calling this fake news is ridiculous. These numbers and the graph come from the officially counted confirmed cases. As for population difference, China has far more people and yet far less infection because they actually treated the epidemic seriously. China's curve flatten very quickly as shown in the other graphs on the John Hopkins site.

Ignoring data because it doesn't fit your political agenda is exactly why the infection has spread so much more in the U.S. then anywhere else. Ignoring this data is why the economy has been shut down and will continue to be offline for quite some time. If the government acted quickly and decisively at the start of the epidemic instead of calling it "fake news" then businesses wouldn't have had to be shut down for so long and people wouldn't be out of work.

The unemployment rate has skyrocketed past all previous records according to the US Dept. of Labor.

You can't believe China.

With regards to testing data, cases per capita is more meaningful than absolute numbers. If a country is testing less people per capita, assuming the population tested over time is similar, then the curve trend may be meaningful to compare to the USA, but not the scale, unless you normalize on a per capita basis. And you are complaining about the scale.

Also, the screening criteria for testing is an important factor in all countries. From what population does the testing data derive? Only symptomatic people? Anyone who can access a test?

Notice how bad the US infection rate is compared to every other country. Even China has a far better response to the epidemic. The incompetence of our government is clear and the economic devastation and loss of life is the consequence of the complete mishandling of this epidemic. This is a wake up call.

It says number of cases..... Can you show a comparative graph, with honest data about the number of people being tested? As others have said, per capita/rate will give a far better picture of the situation. If we're testing 1,000 people to China's 100, then our overall case numbers are going to be higher regardless of population. My guess is it's 1,000 to 10.

China manufactures 90% shit quality wise, outside of the 10% for the hugest companies in the world like Apple. The assumption they're going to test their slaves at all or even accurately is a joke. The top 3 fortune 500 companies with primarily Chinese manufacturing could leave tomorrow and China would be fucked. Why would they want to say their population is sick? They have every incentive to lie.

The stupidity of blaming our Federal government for a viruses spread knows no bounds. The Fed government has virtually nil responsibility with respect to this incident as authority given to it by the states as referenced in the constitution says very little.

State governments and we the people need to step the fuck up and make the rubber meet the road. This is one incident that has wholly exposed the flaws that the states have allowed in letting the Fed gov have all of these alphabet agencies and public private partnerships that are all unconstitutional!

This is more truthful. Keep in mind that the countries ahead of us on this list largely started with the CV 2-3 weeks prior to us, so testing per millions in a couple weeks would be the most accurate comparison.

Truth. Deaths are really the only thing that matters because that is what is creating the hype. The claim of overrun hospitals has been clearly debunked and has not happened in any way shape or form. There are stories coming out now of reclassified deaths from months ago as Covid that get counted today as well. If they miscategorized past deaths, it's highly likely some of the current ones are as well. Science though....

This can be compensated for. I quoted the graph provided by the site. Nonetheless, the infection rate in the US went exponential even though we had both China and Europe as warnings. This could have been avoided by closing the border, quarantining Americans returning from overseas, and having a stay-at-home order back in February.

And if we had done that, the economy would not be taking the hit it is and the unemployment would have gotten so bad -- and that's only going to get worse.

You should be disappointed in the government for mishandling this. We've known for over a 100 years that we had to prepare for the next big pandemic. We'll probably not prepare for the next one either because Americans have such short memories

I've got news for you. The typical America who has nothing to do with the left or the right still considers Fox and Breitbart to be far less reliable than CNN and even MSNBC. If you want to disregard all four of those sources as bias, then fine. But if you are advocating that CNN and MSNBC are trash and Fox and Breitbart are not, then that's just stupid.

In any case, even bias sources can sometimes tell the truth and there is nothing I've cited that isn't true and you can't get confirmation from dozens of major news sources. So pick whichever one doesn't give you butt hurt. There are plenty to choose from.

If you are going to use this graph, you have to time-shift from the start of the infection in each country. Otherwise the per-capital difference is only due to the virus arriving in the U.S. at a later date. Do that and again, the U.S. is doing a worst job than most other countries even most, but not all, European countries.
