You're likely safer by not wearing a mask but practicing good hygiene, washing your hand frequently and after touching surfaces and never touching your face (which you have to do if you want to wear a mask). Nurses know how to use medical equipment safely and the surgical masks and clothes are mainly there to not infect already wounded/immunocompromised patients with any of the billion bacterias of your body that could turn pathogenic in the right environment.

Yeah man, only a month ago she was complaining about the hospital being empty. Only a few cases upstairs and that was scaring off the junkies and hypos that normally take up space in an emergency room. So she was bored and actually not working that many days.

The past 10 days or so she said they place has been mobbed/overwhelmed and they are all working overtime. Getting nice bonuses too.

Apparently they've had deaths at all ages too. I wouldn't have believe it if not for it coming from my sister.

I think they're doing great work and don't want to get into a position to contradict their experiences at the hospital, but you cannot translate those "environmental settings" into the outdoors or family settings and especially not with ordinary people who have no idea how to use masks, sanitizer and medical equipment, and what a virus is that could spread via droplets or aerosols which would render surgical masks ineffective if the latter. In a hospital setting masks make 100% sense.

There's no need to remove this. It does make sense for older people to isolate/distance, unless they prefer company and don't care. It is real and killing many older folks. And if it's transmitted via droplets only and old/fragile people know how to use a surgical mask and practice hard there's nothing wrong with wearing one for self-protection. But then use a throw away surgical mask and use it once or twice max for short indoor use only, and not this bandana bs which is a germ factory and doesn't do squat except for hindering your oxygen intake.

Also I think the antibody tests are now available for everyone for ~$100 - if you test positive then you likely came in contact with it and had no issues - either had or developed immunity - so it's pretty much guaranteed you won't have issues next time as well so you can go mingle, no matter what age.
