Look, I don't think a young adult that can't read an analogue clock is "stupid" just because they can't read an analog clock. It's basically a worthless skill.

I can't use a slide rule. I know it's logarithmic, and it's basically used for approximating calculations, but that's it. I think I could learn to use one in a day. I bet a kid could be taught how to read time on a clock within a day. Ignorance and stupidity are two different things.

I have found that if you use the word "stupid" when you mean "ignorant" or "gullible" you cause people to dig their heels in. I avoid using "stupid" as much as possible, because you can't fix stupid. Ignorance and gullibility can be fixed. I prefer to change minds and educate, I hate having arguments - and over DECADES I have found out that I'm ignorant and/or gullible MULTIPLE times, which is why I'm now the crusty old man that is convinced I'm right - I'm convinced I'm right because I've been proven wrong so many times.

I don't have cognitive dissonance in my life. I find I almost never get angry now.

Years ago I was interviewing for a tech gig at a democratic controlled non profit in the city. There were several cases of Obama's "Dreams of my father" in the waiting room. They offered me one but I declined. Didn't get the job.

I bet the powers that be bought a bunch of copies of "Mein Kampf" to support Herr Hitler who was incredibly rich by the time Germany attacked Poland.

Well, yeah, I attempt to call people nothing. I think the best approach is saying something like "you might be unaware of.." and "You place too much trust in.." in place of using the words ignorance and gullibility.

I'm not very gullible anymore - which makes me extremely cynical.
