White people, apparently, are smart enough to avoid the commercials, so there's no point in including them. That said, when I inadvertently see a commercial, I'm pretty surprised how badly the occasional white male is portrayed. I suppose those products aren't meant for me.

Yeah ^^^ this. The people you see in an advertisement are meant to appeal to people who watch them. The only people I know who will sit through a commercial are the very elderly, and the very lazy - so commercials are meant to appeal to people who won't use a DVR, don't have a DVR, or have so much time don't care about skipping the commercial.
I used to hang out with a neighbor for beers - he was on "disability" (i.e. literally found a way to avoid work because he didn't want to do that) and all he did was watch television and drink. He used to sit through commercials, and it had been a long time since I saw television - the same commercial, the SAME EXACT commercial, would show up sometimes more than once in the same commercial break. I didn't time it, but I think 40% of the time is on commercials, and 60% on whatever program the are showing.
I predict television as we know (knew?) it won't exist in 20 years.

LOL! My wife likes to watch old detective series on streaming services and an occasional movie. We were away from network TV for a while. When we turned it on again for one show she wanted to see, we were pretty shocked. It's the usual total propaganda misrepresentation of reality and the world, but with an 80 to 90 percent minority cast. It's the minorities living the 10 to 20 million dollar materialistic lifestyles with perfect, clean fashionable clothes, grooming, expensive homes, lavish kitchens, latest premium cars etc. I doubt that many minorities are enjoying those particular lifestyles, but I think the propaganda is less designed to convince them than to demoralize white people with anti-propaganda. It is decidedly bizarre in a world where almost everything has become upside down and backwards instigated by some media psychopath's grand design.
I just put the ads on mute and do something else for a few minutes, because I forgot how long they are. Re-runs are nice because you can zip past the commercials. It is amazing how many ads are for Big Pharma as a direct appeal to do an end run around doctor's advice. The 'sufferers' are always in that ten million dollar plus lifestyle group, and are always restored to blissful materialistic happiness and idle, aristocratic pursuits or vacations in perfect weather after they take the advertised product.
