I have been enjoying leaving my phone in airplane mode in a drawer most of the time.

It somehow feels like I'm getting away with something by not carrying it constantly.

I think it’s important.

I can go full days while checking my phone constantly throughout the day… every ring, beep, etc, morning to night. Due to my job, this is my modus operandi on weekdays.

I try to put the phone away as much as possible on weekends.

When I’ve put my phone away for the entire day, I feel like I’m navigating a new planet or something. Im at ease. I’m totally present with my family, neighbors, etc. I slow down and see beauty in the world.

The combination of phones and social media could be one of the worst things that’s ever happened to our society.

One more detail, I have a business cell and a personal cell. Having to carry both, deciding which to take out to dinner, can be quite a pain. I do it primarily for privacy… when you get a business phone you agree that they own all the content. Wasn’t gonna play that game.

On the rain-catching contraption: in California you'll fill these barrels once during the winter (when you don't need to water anything anyway) and then use them to water your garden maybe twice. Having this (let's be honest) ugly and bulky thing in the yard for just two watering is not very appealing.


PS. I'm going by my experience of hauling barrels of recycled water during the last drought when water restrictions were imposed. With two of these blue barrels it was barely enough to water one big lawn and two strips of grass (about 3000 sq ft in total).

PPS. I bought them in the Marijuana grower supply store and paid with a CC, so I'm probably on some list somewhere, lol.

If you are interested in a good backyard fire pit skip the contraption made from wheels and get yourself a Solo Stove. Amazingly efficiently burning: almost no smoke and all is left is small amount of powdery ash. And it's made from SS, so it won't rust to nothing in one year like these wheels would.

If you think 5 mg isn't doing anything, do not have more. It can take hours to kick in, and once it does, you cannot undo it. You're in for the whole ride.

So many people have made the same mistake. Fortunately, no one ever died from being too stoned.
