What's his track record on the predictions he made in the past?

Future predictions are about a blind man feeling one part of the elephant and making sweeping generalizations, then usually some kind of sales pitch.

... and then there's Francis Fukuyama who made grand conclusions after feeling the beast's dick and balls.

Pretty damn good. He called out the Ukraine war to the year.

Before 2014? Then I'm impressed. Otherwise - not so much. Because after 2015 it became trivial: the moment NS2 was finished the shit was on and visible from 1000 miles.

They can be but what's the alternative not even try to predict the future at all? Best to take in other perspectives then give it a shot yourself.

Zeihan's latest book published this year says the world is becoming less connected and less globalized; so that will mean less imported cheap crap at Best Buy, Dollar Tree, and Walmart ?

A lot of Dollar Tree products like LA's Totally Awesome are made in the USA. Even the greeting cards, pens, pencils, glue, notebooks, and the miscellaneous school supplies are made in the USA.

Maybe we'll just reduce our level of consumerism and ration more. Grow a garden. Eat less red meat and pork.

Look at how the World War 2 generation sustained themselves and they had radio, telephones, cars, trains, etc.

Zeihan mentions food and energy crisis. This just means more opportunity for innovation.

Micro to large scale aquaculture is some way to address this. Look at how salmon and shrimp can be farmed, as well as tilapia. Small scale nuclear reactors are another solution.

I'm seeing more kits on Amazon as far as growing food and fresh water shrimp like freshwater big claw shrimp inside a home or garage. The big claw shrimp in Florida grow to 12 inches in fresh and brackish water and can survive as a scavenger eating algae and dead vegetation debris like grass clippings and leaves. The freshwater big claw shrimp is a delicacy as I've eaten it in Puerto Rico.

I've seen micro aquaponic or hydroponic kits like this one

Look the fish situation is easy and relatively cheap to fix. Just sprinkle a few hundred tons of iron dust into the oceans. That causes a plankton bloom which creates excess fish food which drives them to reproduce like mad. Do that several times and you’ve replenished the ocean’s fish stocks, as well as sucking a significant amount of CO2 from the atmosphere… if that matters.
A billion bucks would get this done.

Thank you for the very good post Shaman. That is true as phytoplanktown consumes carbon dioxide and also iron as part of photosynthesis.
