I decided to check at https://smcacre.gov/elections/my-election-info

My wife's ballot was received, but mine was not, even though I dropped it into the box right next to the election official.

WTF?

I'm sending an email to elections@sos.ca .gov">elections@sos.ca .gov

Hi,
I dropped off my ballot on election day at the voting center in the Menlo Park civic center area, between the police station and library downtown.

It was filled out, signed and dated. I dropped it in the box at the head of the line right in front of an election official, after confirming with her that it was the right place to put it.

On https://smcacre.gov/elections/my-election-info I now (on Nov 7th) see this:

Ballot Mailed Date: October 4th, 2024
Ballot Returned Date: Not Received
Ballot Status: Not Received

Please let me know what happened to my ballot and why it was not counted.

I will be publicizing your response at https://patrick.net/post/1382484/2024-11-08-my-ballot-was-not-counted

Thank you.

There is also a contact form at https://smcacre.gov/elections/contact-registration-elections but it is infested with Google spyware so I don't want to use it:

I also emailed registrar@smcacre.gov just now, same email as above.

Well now we know the extent of the steal in the PRCA. It's the same here in the PRNY.

A happy MAGA rebirth to everyone.

Maybe they will get back to me with some legit reason, but I can't imagine what that reason would be.

If you fail the signature match do they tell you or does it just get discarded?
6   Patrick   2024 Nov 7, 9:31pm

Dunno. Didn't hear anything.

I definitely used my normal signature.

They just should have sent you a message saying: "Welcome to California" with a bird finger emoji. That's about how much our votes matter. I'll check ours tomorrow just out of curiosity.

I got text messages each step of the way:

We'd, Oct 30:

I just checked and they said my ballot was accepted and counted. Of course, counted means what they want it to mean.

Stalin smiles.

That's another reason why I vote in person.
11   Patrick   2024 Nov 7, 11:22pm

I did vote in person.

I walked in an put my paper ballot in the box.

It looked like you said early in October. Never vote early.

Also, they don't scan your ballot? We have electronic and a paper backup at my polling place. I'm also just not dropping it in a box without it being scanned.

Did not check this year. But four years ago, did vote in person. My ballot and my wife never were counted. That's CA thing, I guess.

When my wife and I went and got paper ballots and filled them out, we were told to take them over to a box in front of some old fat dude who looked like they dug him out off a local bar stool. I just knew that our site printed ballots would not be counted because they know those are always Republicans but I never really checked. It was for the Newsom recall, and even the hippies in Santa Cruz wanted Newsom recalled. Of course, he wasn't. It was called really early too, so I imagine our ballots wound up in a fire some place.

This time, I said let's take the mail ballots to the drop box at city hall. At least we stood a chance of them being counted. Probably miscounted and misattributed, but at least counted.

Certified mail to the address where they have to sign upon delivery. Don't recall, but I think about $13. Pay the money. If it comes back not counted you have recourse. USPS take certified mail pretty damn seriously. Seizure aside I almost lost my job because of 2 fuck ups with certified mail.

Does CA really not have scanners AND paper ballots? That's kind of fucked up. For how corrupt IL is, we at least have a backup at any polling place I've been to. Scan for quick results and paper for a count if it's too close.
