With all the talk about the school shootings, let's take a look at what the 2nd Amendment actually says:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Couple things to note in there:

1. The specific mention of a militia being the reason for the need to bear arms.
2. The 2nd Amendment never mentions the word gun at all.

So, what exactly is the definition of "arms"?

In 1755 Dr. Johnson’s Dictionary of the English Language was first published. It defined “arms” as “weapons of offence, or armour of defence.”

Weapons of offence would seem to include pretty much anything and everything, from knives to nuclear weapons. The US has already seen fit to ban some weapons of offence so the 2nd Amendment clearly has not been interpreted strictly as meaning that the US cannot ban all "arms". Therefore, the 2nd Amendment does not guarantee citizens the right to own whatever weapons they choose.

So it then becomes a question of which weapons should be banned, which should be strictly regulated, and which should be lightly regulated or not at all. Like anything else, we should weigh an individual's right with society's right. When looked at in that manner, it becomes very difficult to justify why fully automatic or semi automatic rifles should be allowed. What purpose do they serve an individual? And why would that purpose outweigh the extreme damage those weapons have cased society??

Patrick thinks the Chamber of Commerce is the worst organization, and he may be correct, but the NRA is not far behind.

Nice, but that ammo is like $4 per round. Ouch.

Big piece of garbage Elliot is completely Anti-2A. That mofo may act in roles that would make you think he is for 2A, but reality is he’s not. Look it up, whoever made that meme should have used someone else.

Yes, and I have witnessed around here that judges dismiss gun charge violations for minorities. While I was waiting for a case, I heard one judge dismiss a gun charge where a Black convicted felon tried to buy a gun - "He did not know better."

Why are we using an AK-47 as the example gun? Are we referring to ISIS, Taliban, or commie revolutionaries here?

Because this is what is readily available and comes to mind first where that "meme"was created. I notice a lot of subtle signs of "created not here" in many "memes" flooding our interwebz.

Well, FYI the AK-47 is an excellent weapon and superior to others in many respects.

The main benefit is that the AK-47 is cheap and easy to manufacture. Otherwise, the AK-47 is heavy and has high recoil compared to M-16/AR-15 types.

Recoil is not bad (compared to Garand, tee-hee), but ergonomics and stock sights are shit. AR is far superior in these areas. And since cheap Commie surplus ammo has dried up owning an AK makes even less sense than before.

On the contrary, the AK-47 is not heavy with almost no recoil. In fact, in Vietnam
it proved to be superior to the AR-15 that had jamming problems - A problem the
AK-47 did not have.

This "problem" hasn't been a problem for at least half a century now. And even then it was caused by things having nothing to do with the weapon itself.

American militia should be armed with current American weapons for bazillion of obvious reasons.

Such as what? Dirt from the Vitenam jungle? So... who cares? At that
point you are dead if you are facing an AK-47.

Wrong type of powder in issued ammo and a false assertion that the rifle doesn't need cleaning.

I have held both the M16 and captured Chinese AK-47s in my hands. That AK-47 was several pounds heavier. I have shot the M16 and it has virtually no recoil. I have not fired the AK-47, but folk who have did mentioned the recoil. In fact, the AK-47's high recall is common knowledge among gun enthusiasts.

I fired the AK-47 a few times. From my experience, the AK-47 was not heavy and the
recoil was not an issue.

A_mm_endment? Who writes this shit? Not English speakers for sure. Same guys who first think "AK-47" when tasked with pasting a rifle picture into a "meme".
