I hope you say that, because it was disappointing rendition, and not because you're from West Virginia and you only have two teefs in your head, and have relatives that call you Uncle Daddy.

I thought it was a hideous monument, in this day and age where people should be master artisans, that monument proves we're actually on the decline. MLK is barely a relief extending from a huge chunk of Granite. And the sculpting of MLK him self is kind of chunky and not very detailed. It's almost looks like something Paul Sr. from Orange County Choppers would have outsourced to some sandblasting company that would have used the latest digital sandblasting computerized toy to sculpt.

I think our coinage also shows we're in decline. It's just awful, childish, cheap-looking stuff, especially with the "collect all 50" states theme.

The material keeps declining in quality as well. Real silver just had a great feel to it.

Everything in the house rattled and for the first time, I was thinking that perhaps California is not the best place to be.

I was passed out on my bed at 8PM (body is still on Hong Kong time) and thought it was my fiancee sitting down on the bed. The last couple of small ones we have had, I was at work and I wasn't sure if it was a 'quake or the mail guy pushing a cart down the hall. CA has not had a real earthquake since 1989. I am really hoping that many of the transplants that have arrived since will freak out & get out at the next one. My dad said that he knew a few east coasters (he's a transplant too) that packed up & left in 1989. We need something to come through and correct housing prices faster since the government is slobbering all over the NAR's wiener & doing the opposite.

In 1992 there was an earthquake felt in Vegas in the middle of the night. I had just moved to a new place and had pretty much overdosed on cleaning supplies during the night... I briefly woke up and thought it was my big dog trying to crawl under the bed. Your mind can play tricks when it tries to justify unexplainable stuff.

Been riding California quakes over fifty years. I kinda enjoy the adrenaline rush. BUT, I was Downtown San Francisco a couple hours after the Loma Prieta EarthQuake 1989. The Sun had just gone down and there were NO LIGHTS anywhere. No stop lights, no street lights, no lights for housing. NO GASOLINE, NO electricity. It was like an Alfred Hitchcock Movie. Nobody was allowed inside their buildings for fear of ruptured gas lines. Groups of people just stood idol out front of those buildings with no place to go and nothing to do. NOT a normal scene for that regular hussle & bussle city. All the taxis had already left town. Trolley cars perched on the side of the hills with batteries dying and headlights going dim. Rubble from window sills and gargoyles laid shattered through the streets. Civilians directed traffic around fires and other calamity. Met a Woman who was slapped against her glass wall by her desk, seventeen stories up. Earthquakes move mountains. How long before a quake levels some man made behemoths ?

Millau viaduct over the river Tarn on A75 in the south of France. The residents of Milau are profoundly grateful for this bridge. Routing all the A75 traffic down into Milau and through the city streets used to be a nightmare in the summer. I lived not far away and all my friends who lived in Milau hated the gridlock 3 months of every year.

Lots of mosquitos though, right? Not sure I could stand that after being out here mostly free of them. I would be delighted if every last mosquito on earth were exterminated. Damn whatever biological consequences might follow. It would totally be worth it.
