http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/06/11/Bush-More-Popular-Than-Obama

In a Gallup tracking poll released Tuesday, former-President George W. Bush currently stands with a favorability rating of 49%, compared to 46% who see the 43rd president unfavorably. Meanwhile, another Gallup poll shows President Obama with only a 47% approval rating, with 44% disapproving.

If you think about it, this makes perfect sense.

After all, Obama fooled everyone when he ran as the anti-Bush in 2008.

Everyone thought Obama meant he would be less hawkish than his predecessor. But as we have seen, Obama apparently has no problem killing American citizens via remote control with drones or greatly expanding upon Bush's surveillance state. This, even though Obama told us he had pretty much won the War on Terror.

Therefore, it appears that what Obama meant by promising to be the anti-Bush is that, unlike George W. Bush, Obama would not get us out of a recession and into many years of economic prosperity. There would also be successful terror attacks on American soil during Obama's watch and a litany of scandals unseen in almost a half-century.

Maybe the next time a former community organizer raised in a creepy church runs for president, the media will work a little harder to dig into his real agenda.

Polls only count when they favor Democrats, I see how that works...

Please explain how polling two totally different sets of circumstances- in this case comparing a non-active president and a active president is at all relevant. It wouldn't matter whether this were between a democrat, republican, or anyone else. Polls are only useful when comparing like with like, and that is not the situation here.

15   Tenpoundbass   2013 Jun 12, 2:53am

They are both Shity Presidents.

Obama only hums the tune, the lyrics come from his corporate masters.

You clearly didn't read the story. The speech he was about to give was concerning details over the NSA surveillance. What do you expect him to do? Make shit up? Besides, he took it in good stride and even made a joke about it.

That's not what you said in a previous post.

Polls are a great tool. If the media can harp on these meaningless polls long enough. Then people who have avoided politics for the last four years, can let the polls do their thinking for them.

Don't kid your self. Do you really think 85% of the people who voted for Obama, put any thought into why they were actually voting for him. Or were they just desperate to "be on the side of history" based on a POLL?

dodgerfanjohn says

Thats actually of little relevance. I can't help but note that many detractors used George Bush's manner of speech as a sign of marginal intelligence, when in fact there is little connection between the two.

Well, a number of cohesive laundry lists of GW's failures were already made. My own addition was simply more reinforcement to what was already mentioned. So collectively add that up and ta-da. formulation of one of the worst presidencies in US history.

I agree. But would you use a screwdriver to hammer a nail? Do you understand what I just said? Polling two unrelated things are not meaningful. BUSH IS NOT THE CURRENT PRESIDENT.CaptainShuddup says

Of course they did. Don't try to belittle people who didn't want to vote your way. Like I've said before the GOP has an extreme demographics problem on their hands these days. Clearly more Americans see the Democratic party as more pertinent to their interests. If the GOP actually paid attention to the real issues, then perhaps more people would vote for them. People vote for those who are most representative of their concerns and positions on issues.

GW used a Teleprompter as well and still sounded like a 10 year old

Yes, and another non-story, which fails to make a point.

You were the one who brought up Obama's public speaking skills.

23   Tenpoundbass   2013 Jun 12, 3:08am

But Bush gave press conferences and delivered yearly budgets.

People are far more likely to dislike someone when they're making decisions that impact their life. What GW does now is pretty much irrelevant. I bet Clinton's favorability ratings are much higher than when he was president as well.

I think Jimmy Carter is a great guy and like him very much. If you asked me when he was president I would have said he was shitty.

I still don't see GWB as favorable. But I do think Clinton is much more popular now, not just because he was popular during his times. Everyone after has been way worse. He wins the comparison match big time.

Neither do I, but I don't dislike him as much as I did when he was president. Mostly because he doesn't matter anymore. It's not worth the effort to hate the guy.

I never hated the guy either, just thought he was really really incompetent.

I also think that the poll showing Bush being more popular says more about Obamas scandals and screw ups than it does about Bush. Like you said, Bush isn't relevant anymore...

Sure it does, Obama says a lot, just never on record where it counts. Like in front of the press corp. Johnny Blowjob doesn't have the wherewithal to fact check or do any meaningful retort when he's lied to, on one of Obama's monologue comedy road show.

32   Homeboy   2013 Jun 12, 4:19am

Hey idiots,

Bush is not more popular than Obama. Bush had lower approval than Obama in his second term. All other past presidents are above 60% approval, while Bush is only at 49%. That's actually pretty dismal.

Fascinating turn of events. I read the comments in the huffpost and looks like the extreme left is twisting itself into a pretzel trying to make Snowden look like a criminal/traitor.

I can just imagine their reactions, if Bush or a republican were President during these events. Fascinating psychology.

On pulling stuff out of your ass and calling it the truth

No, and its embarrassing that I have to actually explain this. Your previous comment was something along the lines of what a fabulous president GW was, at which point I responded with a sarcastic reply, insomuch- claiming GW was a great president is tantamount to claiming that pink elephants can fly.

lostand confused says

Then of course you seem to be conveniently forgetting that representatives from both parties are on both sides of the fence on this issue and hence its not exactly a strictly partisan event anyway.

Breitbart, Ha,Ha,Ha
Gallup, Ha,Ha,Ha
1500 out of 316 million know what the population is thinking?
I guess that some of those polled thought that Bush & the Republicans allowing the Homeland to be attacked & the Twin Towers to be destroyed is OK? They must also like unfunded wars?

Now this is some of that there serious trolling.

42   edvard2   2013 Jun 12, 7:40am

Same difference basically because you were essentially saying that Obama wasn't a better president just because of his speaking skills, and seeing as how the claim was made that "any Bimbo" would do over Obama would obviously indicate GW then, who also used a teleprompter but did so poorly. Yet that wasn't the full extent of my claim but rather aside.

43   edvard2   2013 Jun 12, 7:47am

Enjoy Your Hope and Change says

The skill of smoothly reading from a teleprompter is so irrelevant to being good president that it barely registers on my give-a-fuck-o-meter. That's all. The rest is your fantasies.

If the Presidency was simply nothing more than reading from teleprompters then perhaps you would have a point. But Obama actually gets shit done so you don't.

Enjoy Your Hope and Change says

You seemed to value teleprompter reading skills much higher not so long ago: "the fact that Obama doesn't sound like a 10 year old speaking at the podium is reason enough to see that Bush was about 500% worse."

I am not sure how much easier to make this understandable to you. Did I in any form or fashion proclaim that Obama's use of a teleprompter was the single and only reason he was better than good ole' GW? Nope. The premise as most anyone else can see is that it was a comment in regards to a whole general mess that was the Bush admin.Enjoy Your Hope and Change says

Yep, he gets the same shit done blah blah blah...

Awfully convenient that you forgot to mention that pretty much everything on your laundry list was already enacted by GW. Whoops. Sorry ya'll lost the election and all, but that's how the cookie crumbles aint it?

47   Tenpoundbass   2013 Jun 12, 9:48am

Clinton didn't become popular until Bush started mucking things up around 2006. During the 2000 election Clinton was a pariah, so Gore and the other Dems locked him in box and sunk him to the bottom of the ocean for the next few years. We are now seeing the same basic timeline of events happen again with Bush and Obama's waning popularity.

Sure Bush2 sucked, but Obama does make Bush2 look good, since those were the good old days of lower unemployment.
