Bailo that is the best post you've ever done! Yes, the human mind and life itself is fantastically complicated, horrendously intricate, and irreducibly complex. Life is the most sophisticated sort of nano machinery, stuff we wouldn't be ready to build for thousands of years. If there's a single force in the universe that could beat back the tide of entropy it is life.
LOL @ dislike for me pointing out that tuition at JC for 2 years + 2 years at CSU is less than $15K, all of which can be borrowed and in sum total is less than the cost of a car loan.
People like spydah want us to return to the bad old days of 1890-1910 when work days were 12-14 hours, pay was so small that both parents and their children had to work to keep the family fed, conditions were absolutely squalid, and the rich robber barons ran the country with an iron fist.
why would that be any different from what we had even in places like Silicon valley over several decades.. how many back in the days of 80s and 90s during the boom people were in fact working 12-14 days 6 and sometimes 7 days a week over some endless projects or young company ?
I can certainly say working over the past 3 decades in SV working 8 hours 5 days is rather unheard of. Its a real sacrifice over your personal life. that is why tech and SV is not for everyone..
GRE's 99% verbal, 97% analytical, 75% math subject, enough to win a national science foundation graduate fellowship to UC Berkeley.
sad.. and all you have to show is being a landlord. UCB.. please i known with only a HS diploma achieving better.. what a waste of money Roberto spent.
Real wages increased steadily until the Reagan--when labor took a back seat to capital and the supply side BS began.spydah_hh says
Had it been Reagan or Carter being re-elected made no difference.. our industries as well as other nations be they in Europe, Latin America and Asia were being challenged and dominated by the Japanese economy. They became the fastest growing no 2 economy ... be it raw materials, auto, shipping/transport, tech, electronics, banking/finance. Japan had a impact which Unions were unable and to this day... unwilling to deal with.

For you to even make an analogy between working long hours at a start-up and the working conditions of the of the late 1800s/early 1900s is beyond ridiculous. Even you can't be serious.
and my college was 100% paid for by the national science foundation, even my living expenses
I paid my own way.. 100% no loans no handouts not ... I got a job and worked for it.
seems the National Science Foundation really wasted money over you creating another landlord.

who is talking about a start up ? .. im talking about a very mature company.. you will find in many business through out our nations be it the local small business its the same .. long hours.. your own business is your life.. it might be a small pet store, a convenience store , what ever what you call yours.
1800s cry me a river!!! Your the kind to find all kinds of obstructions to stop this nation from having a booming economy..

It sounds like he could have easily got plenty of well paying jobs with his qualifications but he chose to go into education. I'd say that deserves praise rather than your belittling remarks.

Indeed! Child labour and slavery should be reintroduced immediately.
mark D, you are a racist asshole, and not very smart based on your writings here.
then explain why people pay me more than they pay you?
before you brag about your 30K crapy houses in the middle of nowhere, one of mine = 10 of yours.

Sure they do... Sure they do... keep telling yourself that!
How stupid of an asshole do you have to be, to think that proves your point?
You are a worthless fuck. you are a blight on the world, now go meet up with bap33 and blow each other. that is all you are good for!
then why did you have to become a slumlord fixing tenants toilets to supplement your income? don't give me that "i'm an investor" crap. your houses are 30K each. what a joke.
To think the junior college actually lets him in front and teach the students with this great maturity should make you go hmmmm....
may be they need some brownies to fill the quotas.
Yeah, I really think he deserves praise for his "qualifications" for these type of "adult" remarks...
I said his decision to go into education was deserving of praise not what you just stated.
To think the junior college actually lets him in front and teach the students with this great maturity should make you go hmmmm....
Given the sort of posts being made in this thread and others, it's not Roberto's posts that make me shake my head at the sorry state of some of humanity.

What is your problem? Are you saying he made bad investment decisions? That he was wrong to invest his money (and well by the sounds of it) as he saw fit? Is your job so much more worthy than his job as an educator as you seem so willing to belittle what he does?

I'd love for you to talk to my face that way, you pussy. I'd put your punk little ass in a hospital.
And now lol now the threats of physical violence over words posted on the Internet by randoms. Ultimate fail. Roberto Ribas, U MAD!!!!!

Since you are a former resident of CA, that's a typical answer I would expect from you... I guess his type of behavior is accepted on the West Coast...
I've never been a resident of CA. I own a home there. I live and work in Kuwait. I come to America on the visa waiver programme.
And what behaviour of Roberto's is it that is supposedly only accepted on the West Coast? Nothing I've ever seen Roberto post is remotely as bad as the utterly reprehensible racist crap that I see posted in this forum on a regular basis.

Roberto is a product of east bay liberal establishment that managed to create lots of lefty zombies who walk around calling everyone racists..
Its all a distraction by the left to cover up their horrible failures over the decades as many other regions have done much better.
drive down 40 miles south into Santa Clara.. its much different here as many have benefited from a robust economy.
Indeed! Child labour and slavery should be reintroduced immediately.
if you wish, you should check around North Africa to middle east to West/East Asia and you will find
lots of Child Labour and Slavery.
we need not worry about what happened with child labor/slavery since no one is looking to have it here.. once again... idiotic liberals keep bringing up this as a distraction to cover up their dismal failure with managing the economy....

You were talking about the US, were you not?
idiotic liberals keep bringing up this as a distraction to cover up their dismal failure with managing the economy....
Really? The Republicans seem to have done a pretty good job at fucking over the US economy when they've been in power... and judging by what is going on right now, when they're also out of it.

if your so concerned about child welfare and stopping slavery.. go to North Africa or India.
your not going to find it here in the USA or Europe..

Duh. You're rather missing the point of the implications of what you said in your initial post. Paint me unsurprised. And it was a jokey comment by the way, but thanks for taking it so to heart. You might also give some consideration to the level of human trafficking and sexual slavery that does continue to exist in the Western world given that you think slavery only occurs elsewhere.

The economy was screwed over by irrational public inflating home prices with out any reason.
Its no different than the stock bubble we had in late 90s. All due to public irrational exhuberance.
The lliberal govt of Obama has done nothing to promote viable growth economy. All they can talk about is some fiction with now failed green economy and govt spending programs on roads and bridges.
No factories, no worker demand.. no job programs.. All we heard from Obama and Clinton,, is those jobs have left and are not returning.. a sharp meaning to everyone.. By the end of Obama's 8 years... we will be no better off all the while other nations are growing their work force.

(Steve Jobs said) "You're headed for a one-term presidency," he told Obama at the start of their meeting, insisting that the administration needed to be more business-friendly. As an example, Jobs described the ease with which companies can build factories in China compared to the United States, where "regulations and unnecessary costs" make it difficult for them.
Jobs also criticized America's education system, saying it was "crippled by union work rules," noted Isaacson. "Until the teachers' unions were broken, there was almost no hope for education reform." Jobs proposed allowing principals to hire and fire teachers based on merit, that schools stay open until 6 p.m. and that they be open 11 months a year.

If found in the west.. people involved are prosecuted... in North Africa/India and Middle East its all just part of life.. So Slavery is accepted and not made illegal... you have millions in bondage...
Your in Kuwait, so its no wonder even in Arab nations you have slavery.
Your not going to find this in the USA...

So Steve Jobs was an education expert as well?

Who was in power when that was happening?
Who does not matter.. it was up to the individual person to be responsible be it Stock bubble during Clinton years or RE bubble during Bush years. The govt does not control prices regardless where interest rates go.
That should have been obvious looking back 1989 - 1993 as home price declined back to normal levels.
So Steve Jobs was an education expert as well?
Jobs was a pig headed Liberals who had Business sense telling Obama what was going on.
Be it education or be it the anti-business climate promoted by the Liberals. Dems failed.
Since your not in the USA you have no idea !

What exactly is your point? People take terrible advantage of other human beings all around the world. You and I do it at a lower level when we pick up our cheap clothing from the mall.
And there have been cases of exploitation of domestic workers in the US as well. The US also has a massive problem with human trafficking.
And in which countries is slavery legal? Have you noticed some countries are less advanced than others and the legal framework less enforceable.
And what has any of that got to do with your claims about general working conditions and harking back to the 'good old days' presumably when employers were free to exploit workers as they saw fit.
Working with Roberto would be like babysitting a 12 y/o.
or be it the anti-business climate promoted by the Liberals. Dems failed.

I do know that Republicans have been in power in the US quite often in my life time. What were the enormous improvements that they brought to the education system?
And what is this anti-business climate that the Democrats have been fostering over the decades? Both your parties are pro-business. You simply have one party that tries to do a little more for the average Joe than the other.
What were the enormous improvements that they brought to the education system?
Math, Science, Literature, Civics, Economics, Business .... what the did liberals usher during the 1960s ... destroying the education foundations in favor or idiotic studies wasting tax payer money and wasting students study time... end result was a tragic decline real hard skills.
What did the liberals bring to US Education.. Atheist terrorist and Marxist...
Don't the Republican and Democratic parties from several generations ago (and earlier) bear little resemblance to the current parties? What has your party done to improve education during your life time? Your party has been in power longer than the Democrats since the 70s. Time enough to make improvements to education you would have thought. And yet from what you say...
1800s cry me a river!!! Your the kind to find all kinds of obstructions to stop this nation from having a booming economy..
Thomas--you must live in an alternate universe. I wish it were possible to send you back in time so you could experience working life back then and compare it to now. That would be enjoyable.
Where did you run away to pussy??
i'm still waiting for his answer to my question "between a Chihuahua and German Shepherd which is smarter?"

perhaps you have been ignoring US industrial power in the post WW2 era.
Are you going to deny the creation of industries and therefore raising a large
workforce, increasing incomes and wealth for the middle class.. what is your plan ?
The democrats have failed .. there is no plan to increase the workforce/jobs/careers/incomes ..
You only succeeded in promoting foreign powers to dominate our industries.

The Montpelier Manifesto says: Lend your name and join the honorable task of rejecting the immoral, corrupt, decaying, dying, failing American Empire and seek its rapid and peaceful dissolution before it takes us all down with it.
Well, that about sums it up doesn't it?
