Mike Choi is battling the late stages of gall bladder cancer and suffering from multiple ailments caused by his cancer. He is one of the most devoted fathers to his 2 very young sons who are still in elementary. Because of Obama Care he has been kicked out of his insurance and is unable to be treated for his cancer. Please show your support and donate so that he can continue receiving treatments for his cancer. Everyone one deserves to live a quality life and receive quality care. Please help him live so that he can see his 2 young...

Yes, it IS sad. Sad that you would take a subject like cancer and turn it into a right-wing political rant.

Yes, I will take some blame in politicizing this. I am somewhat of a hypocrite in saying that only you politicized this when we both did, although the lengths that you went through to call this guy a scammer because you didnt like his comments on obamacare was pretty damn low. And please dont tell me you didnt politicize this especially when your entire focus on this thread originally was to defend obamacare at the expense of this guys credibility.
The main reason I posted was because it is sad to hear so many people lost their insurances, many of which now have to pay even more. NO doubt I am not a fan of Obamacare. I will admit to my mistakes, however.

Miike says

LIke I said before, what if you are completely wrong?

What if YOU are completely wrong?

Perhaps, I could be wrong. If I am wrong, then I gave a potential scammer the benefit of doubt. However if you are wrong, then you are a complete asshole... I would argue though that you have the burden of proving that someone is lying, especially if you are calling them a scammer...

19   Homeboy   2014 Jan 31, 2:26pm

I disagree. The situation described cannot possibly exist, therefore the burden of proof is on HIM to explain how this isn't a scam.

really? All this just cuz he criticized obamacare?

you are really sad...

BTW when you make claims against someone, then the burden is on you. Thats how the real world works...

21   Homeboy   2014 Jan 31, 6:49pm

Hope you enjoy your $420, scammer.

its so sad to see how your belief in obamacare would cause you to become so callous, insensitive, critical, insensate and uncompassionate toward another person...

When you have lost the ability to reason and think logically because of your blind faith in a cause, then its time to take a step back and reflect.

really the sad part about all this is that you took so much offense in this guys criticism of obamacare, you took it upon yourself to try to discredit him and make him look like a crook... why? all because you and he have a differing opinion on Obamacare. you are no better than any of our politicians, because this is in fact exactly what they do.

Miike says

I think YOU are the one who is callous and insensitive. Anyone who would take a serious topic like cancer and use it for a cheap political slam like "Gotta love Obamacare", is a complete asshole.

If this person really did get "kicked of his insurance" because of Obamacare, and really has to come up with $500,000 to treat his cancer, don't you think the GOP would be all over this one, since so far, all they seem to be able to come up with is fake horror stories?:

http://www.salon.com/2014/01/31/gops_obamacare_fiction_series_latest_horror_story_a_creation_from_start_to_finish/

How come this guy's name doesn't come up in any Google search other than the donation page? If true, this would be the holy grail for Republicans, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that Obamacare is an abject failure. Yet not a word about it is heard. That's because it's complete BULLSHIT.

Homeboy says

Yes I said "gotta love obamacare" because it is sickening to see how people have been lied to and now are losing their insurances at crucial times like this. It is rather ironic that you can call me an asshole when you are, without any real knowledge or proof, calling this guy a scammer.

Homeboy says

I find your rationale very bizarre. Just because the GOP doesnt know about this story or used this case to make a case against obamacare, this guys situation is not real or made up? Talk about political slams, why are we even talking about the GOP? Why make this into a Repub vs Demo issue?

Homeboy says

How come this guy's name doesn't come up in any Google search other than the donation page? If true, this would be the holy grail for Republicans, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that Obamacare is an abject failure. Yet not a word about it is heard. That's because it's complete BULLSHIT.

Again such bizarre reasoning... because the GOP doesn know, this must be bullshit. How illogical your reasoning is.... SO if the GOP did find out about this and made this case against obamacare, would that make this story more true? You have the reasoning of a 2 year old...

25   Miike   2014 Feb 1, 11:42am

Although this thread started out as my expression of distaste for Obamacare (just as many posters here often express their likes or dislikes for a particular topic), it really just turned into a disgusting verbal diarrhea from Homeboy with him accusing someone he knows really nothing about as a liar and a scammer. ANd the reason he did this? because homeboy does what homeboy does, he defends Obamacare to the death. IN doing so he cares not whether he defames or slanders someone. To him the ends justify the means. SO he will call a young man dying of cancer a liar and a scammer without any evidence and any reason, except for the fact that this person stated he "got kicked out" of his insurance cuz obamacare. To homeboy this was an attack on Obamacare and homeboy always retaliates on those who attack Obamacare.

Im done with this thread... im disgusted by those who can so quickly and easily criticize, defame and slander because of opposing views. Homeboy's comments are inhumane, insensate without any compassion. How is it that people like homeboy have become so quick to judge and criticize and have no empathy nor compassion?

As I mentioned before. THis guy is a friend of my friend. He (my friend) has verified that this is a true story. Not that this matters to homeboy, but rather than criticizing this poor guy, shouldnt we be sending sending words of support instead? Homeboy you are an asshole, there is no denying that. I hope you learn to become more compassionate in the future, because there may be a day you might be in a similar situation as this guy...

Uh, huh - it's pretty obvious what your agenda is here. Shame on you for using a serious topic like cancer to engage in your political witch hunt.

Miike says

As I mentioned before. THis guy is a friend of my friend. He (my friend) has verified that this is a true story.

Then see if you can stop calling me names long enough to ask your "friend" why his friend doesn't just get insurance on the ACA exchange rather than asking for $500,000 in donations. We will be waiting for the answer.

Miike says

Then you should have no trouble at all explaining the situation and why the person can't get new insurance since he can't be denied. Don't bother with calling me an obamacare defender, I've critisized it from the beginning. You might also explain why you headlined this post "gotta love obamacare" instead of "help a person in need".

I wouldn't donate to such a dubious sounding story. Giveforward seems like a good idea, but they have already had a number of scammers use them http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/fake-give-campaign-raises-11k-deadbeat-dad-article-1.1514812 (there are others). I'm also a little dubious of why giveforward is a for profit delware corporation and has just had another round of fund raising stock sales while opting to not report their revenue according to sec filings.

ALthough I cannot say I know this person directly, my friend knows of him and he claims that this is all true

So, this one guy I know has a friend whose sister's cousin got kicked off her insurance because Obama personally called and made it happen. Why would I question such a solid connection?

Miike says

Lets all be honest, the only reason why you guys are even questioning the validity of this guys situation is because he criticizes obamacare.

No, it's because the guy appears to be a scammer capitalizing on the fear created by those fearmongers who are doing their best to criticize the Affordable Care Act - which came into effect on January 1.

Miike says

What a sad world we live in when your political affliation or beliefs weight more heavily than the compassion you have for another human being. As I mentioned Im not 100% sure if this is true... but just think about this. What if you guys are wrong... What if this situation is real? How big of an asshole are you guys?

Just curious how much you donated? It appears that the majority of the donations are from women and you have the persona of a man. Put your money where your mouth is and make a $100 (or more) donation to this person you've never met, whose story is suspect and the details of which are too sketchy to verify.

Or how big of an asshole are you? lol

30   Miike   2014 Feb 2, 3:08am

Homeboy says

Then see if you can stop calling me names long enough to ask your "friend" why his friend doesn't just get insurance on the ACA exchange rather than asking for $500,000 in donations.

Why do you assume that even if you get insurance on the exchange you wont need money? Even with insurance do you not think there will be tremendous cost burdens on the family including costs of health care and daily living expenses?

bob2356 says

You might also explain why you headlined this post "gotta love obamacare" instead of "help a person in need".

I have explained why this was the title. Look above in previous posts. I wrote this because of my distaste for obamacare. I never posted this as a way to get donation... I believe this is where you and a few others have mistaken my point about this post. it is NOT my intentions to get this guy donations, but to rather point out a misfortunate situation with this guys health and obamacare.

bob2356 says

I wouldn't donate to such a dubious sounding story.

ANd that is totally cool. LIke I said, its not by intentions to get this guy money, but rather to point out what has happened to this particular guy and millions of others out there who have lost their insurance because of ACA minimum requirements.

YOu say its not because he criticizes obamacare, but yet you elude to it in your response. The fact is, neither you nor homeboy can be sure if this is a scam. If you claim this is a scam, then the burden is on you to prove it. My point is, why make claims and slander his name especially if you have no hard proof or evidence?

elliemae says

Just curious how much you donated?

None.. and whats the point? If i was on here trying to get all you guys to donate, then I would be a hypocrite and I would definitely be an asshole. HOwever as I mentioned, this is not about trying to get people to donate, but to point out my dislike for Obamacare.

How big of an asshole are you for slandering a person you have never met without any evidence of what you claim he is doing?? SOunds like you are the asshole... Although I initially started this thread to as a criticism of Obamacare, I find that the majority of my time here as been trying to defend this guy from you and homeboy's slander and criticism...

36   Homeboy   2014 Feb 2, 5:57am

I sent an email to the team captain on that donation page, respectfully asking why Mike Choi doesn't get new insurance. So far, no answer. I'll let you know if she answers. Otherwise, I'm assuming it's a scam.

37   Homeboy   2014 Feb 2, 6:00am

You ask what proof we have it's a scam. The proof is that the situation described is not possible. I'm not interested in all your "maybe this" "maybe that" bullshit, Miike. If any of those things you made up are true, they should have been written on the donation page rather than the impossible fictional situation that is there.

Everyone are still waiting for you to explain what happened, the story as told doesn't make sense. It shouldn't be that hard to ask your friend, the one who knows the true story that you brought into this, how this is all possible and the details. The fact you dance around this like Baryshnikov doing nutcracker makes me even more suspicious of this entire post.

Probably what you should have done in the first place, rather than being so quick to accusing him of being a liar/scammer...

Listen, in all honesty, the only reason why I even write back to you guys is because I think its total bullshit how so many people on this forum are so quick to judge and make accusations without ANY evidence. If you have hard evidence and proof, thats one thing... but no one here can be sure either way whether this is true or not. So why not just give a benefit of the doubt or just not say anything to that matter... I just find it bizarre how so many of you with so little information can make a judgement and then furthermore slander this guy.

Unless you can specifically state why that is proof, your argument here is pointless.

I brought up these "maybes" ONLY to prove we cannot and do not know what is going on... If you read carefully, it wasnt to say that this was the case for him. Even if these things were true, why do you insist they should have been on the donation page?

41   Miike   2014 Feb 2, 11:08am

What makes you think I have the knowledge to explain this. I have explained before that I do not have the details to this story. This link was simply placed on a friends facebook page. I asked if this was true and was told it was. that is that and nothing else.

What exactly about the story doesnt make sense to you? Please explain.

bob2356 says

The fact you dance around this like Baryshnikov doing nutcracker makes me even more suspicious of this entire post.

Im not dancing around anything. As I have mentioned several times before, I do not know the story in detail. that is not the point. THe point is that neither I nor ANY of you guys know the story, HOWEVER YOU guys are the ones making accusations and slandering this guy WITHOUT much or any information.
If you are accusing and slandering this guy, then the burden to prove your accusations are on YOU, not me.
MY entire point on this subject is, dont call this guy a liar or a scammer because really you dont know him nor the facts. You know what? I dont know him nor much of the facts either, but again, im not the one making these accusations.

42   Ceffer   2014 Feb 2, 11:49am

Please unbunch your panties. I haven't slandered anyone. I've pointed out the inconsistencies in this story, which are certainly greater than the consistencies in the story.

You say that you initially started this thread as a criticism of "Obamacare," and it's a piss-poor example of problems with the program. Slander is where a person says something that isn't true, while libel is where a person writes something that isn't true.

Homeboy and I (as well as several other posters) were simply questioning this guy's motives, his story, and your unwavering support of something you read on the interwebs. You became guilty of libel at the point that you called us "assholes."

Look at it this way: if I were to say that you are either the world's most naïve person to believe a story about someone you've never met and who has posted no verifiable information in order to authenticate the validity of the man's claims, you're incredibly stupid to believe it, you are a scammer who is attempting to gain support for your imaginary persona, or that you are an idiot who is so blinded by your hatred of the Affordable Healthcare Act that you would use such an asinine example of another persons claims to further your message - well, that might be libel.

I mean, if I were to say that. Which I didn't, 'cause it was merely an example...

45   Homeboy   2014 Feb 3, 4:30am

I knew it...

I received an answer from the team captain:

Thank you so much for your question. As for Mike he was kicked out of his insurance because of the Obamacare. I'm not too familiar with the details about it but I know that currently he is trying to be approved for medi-cal since he has been unable to work for several months and has no income. I believe he is heading toward the final stages and has been close to death but God has kept him with his family. My hopes is to raise as much money as we can but anything even if we only raised $400 we are happy with whatever we can do. Hopefully the medi-cal gets approved soon so that we may at least proper hospice care soon. Thank you for your interest and have a blessed day!

I'm not convinced it's an outright scam, but it's certainly misleading. I mean, how do you ask for $500,000 and not know the details of the case you're raising the money for?

But here's the problem I have with your thread, Miike: You were so eager to turn this into an anti-Obamacare rant because of your obvious political proclivities, but this is actually an Obamacare WIN.

This guy is going to get Medi-Cal, which is FREE. Had he remained on his old policy, he would still be paying an insurance company for NOTHING, when he could be getting care and not having to pay at all for the insurance. I have no idea why he didn't immediately apply for Medi-Cal as soon as it was available to him, but that's HIS fault, not Obamacare's.

I just wish she had told the truth, that he is going to get Medi-Cal, but he was late in applying so he doesn't have it yet. Instead, she said he "can't get treatment" because of Obamacare, which isn't even a distortion of the truth; it's just an outright lie.

You can say I'm "defending" Obamacare all you like. I guess if you rabidly and insanely hate it for no good reason, it would seem to you that's what I'm doing. But really, I'm just tired of all the lies. I would be the first to admit there are problems with ACA, but if it were truly as horrible as some of you make it out to be, you wouldn't have to tell lies to make it sound worse than it is.

I actually hope this guy gets assistance. I'm just pissed at the people who are using a tragic situation to take a cheap political shot.

46   Miike   2014 Feb 3, 5:54am

Im sorry but you, homeboy and others were not simply questioning this guy. You guys went much further calling him a liar and a scammer.

Furthermore, my point was not to provide "unwavering support" for this guy, but rather to make you guys question your wnwavering criticism of a situation in which you have NO knowledge about.

elliemae says

you are a scammer who is attempting to gain support for your imaginary persona

oh ok.. so now I am a scammer.

Ok so now Homeboy got a response and it does not seem like it is a scam.... what an ASSHOLE you are. Even if you didnt believe this story, you didnt have to call him a scammer...

47   Miike   2014 Feb 3, 6:02am

Homeboy says

I knew it...

you knew what?

Homeboy says

You were so eager to turn this into an anti-Obamacare rant

You are right, this was originally an anti-obamacare thread. I dont deny this. I do not agree with obamacare so when I saw a person lose his insurance because of obamacare, I highlighted this. You do exactly the same, when you see anything good about obamacare you highlight them. This thread however evolved into more than a rant on Obamacare. Many, especially you, were so quick to attack and criticize this guy. As a result, the overwhelming majority of my responses has been in defense of this guy from your criticism, rather than me criticizing obamacare.

Homeboy says

but this is actually an Obamacare WIN.

How? He lost his insurance in the middle of his ongoing treatment for cancer. WTF??!?!?! are you that blind and insane?

Oh wait...Homeboy says

This guy is going to get Medi-Cal, which is FREE. Had he remained on his old
policy, he would still be paying an insurance company for NOTHING, when he could
be getting care and not having to pay at all for the insurance.

Ok so he is getting free medi-cal. You must not know the medical system. I wouldnt take medi-cal even if it was free. The care you get as a medi-cal patient is HORRIBLE. When you say things like this, it makes it pretty clear you have no idea about medi-cal and how horrible the care you get with medi-cal. Trust, me I would be willing to bet a lot of money that he would rather pay to keep his old insurance than get medi-cal.

Homeboy says

I have no idea why he didn't immediately apply for Medi-Cal as soon as it was
available to him, but that's HIS fault, not Obamacare's.

Do you know that he didnt? Considering how backlogged and slow the california govt is, I wouldnt be surprised that it took a long time... Even if he didnt, he shouldnt have lost his insurance to beging with.

Homeboy says

You can say I'm "defending" Obamacare all you like.

You do, in all your posts this is all you do. You wont ever admit anything bad about obamacre, even when people lose their insurance during the middle of their cancer treatments...

48   Miike   2014 Feb 3, 6:12am

BTW homeboy,

what lies did I tell to make obamacare look worse than it is???

Furthermore, now that you emailed and got your answer, shouldnt you apologize for your actions?

How does it feel to have been calling a man dying of cancer a scammer and a liar? Like I said before, my main point in responding to you and others was that NONE of us really know whats going on... therefore no one should have been so quick to judge and criticize.

Your posts were without any compassionate, consideration, thought and it was certainly inhumane. I understand your zealous fervor for obamacare, but this is no way to act regardless of whether this guy criticizes obamacare or not...

49   Homeboy   2014 Feb 3, 10:34am

No Miike, YOU should apologize for politicizing a man's battle with cancer and turning it into an unwarranted attack on Obamacare.

Facts:

1. He is planning to go on MediCal.
2. Rather than being worse off, he is in fact BETTER off now, since he will be getting free medical insurance.
3. It is a LIE that he "can't get treatment because of Obamacare".
4. The fact that he lost his job and doesn't have any income has nothing to do with Obamacare.

You didn't care about any of these facts, and you had absolutely no interest in finding out the truth. You were quite content to use a lie to falsely criticize Obamacare, because of your own personal bias.

In fact, you are STILL lying. You still pretend that this guy's predicament is the fault of Obamacare, when in fact he can now get BETTER insurance for LESS money. And has the thread title changed? Nope, still the same.

It's still a scam, Miike. I'm just giving her the benefit of the doubt since she took the time to answer my email. I still think the situation is misrepresented, but I will give her the benefit of the doubt that she is simply ignorant and misinformed rather than being deliberately deceitful, although I'm probably being far too generous here.

You need to take some of that faux outrage and turn it inward.

50   Homeboy   2014 Feb 3, 10:54am

I say Obamacare has problems all the time. I even said it in this very thread. I don't think you know how to read very well. I just don't make up fake things like you do.

No Miike, YOU should apologize for politicizing a man's battle with cancer and turning it into an unwarranted attack on Obamacare.

Still cant take responsibility eh? Homeboy does the only thing homeboy knows how to do... If I have politicized this mans battle with cancer (which you have been claiming vehemently was a scam) by reporting how a man lost his insurance in the MIDST of his fight with cancer... then im guilty. You are guilty of worse, by defending obamacare through slandering this guys, claiming that he is lying just to hurt obamacare. Who is worse? Ill will take my part of the blame, can you?

Facts:

1. THe man has cancer and you have been proclaiming this whole time he is an liar and a scammer

Homeboy says

1. He is planning to go on MediCal.

2. He plans to get medical - why? Because he was kicked off his insurance because of requirements made by Obamacare.

Homeboy says

2. Rather than being worse off, he is in fact BETTER off now, since he will be getting free medical insurance.

3. Are you serious? He lost his insurance in the MIDST of his care and currently has no care. How is that good???? Furthermore, now his only way to care is through medi-cal, the worst piece of crap insurance you can have. do you have ANY idea what kind of SHIT care he will get with medi-cal? YOu obviously have no idea because if you did, you would realize how F'in stupid that comment is. Ask anyone in health care and see if medi-cal is a good insurance plan. Im sure someone dying of cancer is thrilled about getting free medi-cal while losing his private insurance...

Homeboy says

3. It is a LIE that he "can't get treatment because of Obamacare".

4. Perhaps he can get treatment once he gets in with medi-cal, but the fact at this moment is that he has no insurance cuz he has been discontinued DUE to obamacare. So until he can get on medi-cal this apparently seems to be true..

Homeboy says

4. The fact that he lost his job and doesn't have any income has nothing to do with Obamacare.

5. no, but did anyone even claim this? now you are just making shit up.

Homeboy says

You didn't care about any of these facts, and you had absolutely no interest in finding out the truth. You were quite content to use a lie to falsely criticize Obamacare, because of your own personal bias.

Unfortunately you didnt list any fact. Furthermore you found out the truth when you emailed that person... and the truth was that you were 100% wrong on this - this is not a scam and this is a real situation. Yet you still claim someone is lying? What did I lie about? I made NO claims...

Homeboy says

In fact, you are STILL lying. You still pretend that this guy's predicament is the fault of Obamacare, when in fact he can now get BETTER insurance for LESS money. And has the thread title changed? Nope, still the same.

HIs predicament is the fault of Obamacare... he LOST his insurance because of Obamacare requirements, like millions of other people.

BETTER insurance? WHO is lying now? WTF you are seriously dumb haha. Medical is better insurance? I dont even need to know what his private insurance was... ANY private insurance is better than medi-cal.

Homeboy says

It's still a scam, Miike.

still cant admit it... so you will call this guy a scammer even still...
THe person you emailed may be ignorant and misinformed, but this has not been the argument you have been making. THe argument you have been making is that this was a scam... grow up and grow a pair... admit when you are wrong.

You are full of shit, liar. He can get insurance if he wants it. Prove otherwise, or shut the fuck up.

By the way, Bob asked you to explain this story that doesn't make sense. We're still waiting for an explanation.

Can you tell me where I said he cant get insurance? You resorting to making up shit now eh?

You're not going to respond to any of the half dozen things I called you on out in the previous post???? This is your response? I supposed you are now left to making up things that I didnt say in efforts to divert attention from the bullshit that spews out of your mouth... I am particularly fond of how you think that this guy losing his private insurance was a GOOD thing since he is now able to get Medi-cal. Let me help you remember exactly what you said...

Homeboy says

but this is actually an Obamacare WIN.

Homeboy says

This guy is going to get Medi-Cal, which is FREE. Had he remained on his old policy, he would still be paying an insurance company for NOTHING, when he could be getting care and not having to pay at all for the insurance.

Homeboy says

Rather than being worse off, he is in fact BETTER off now, since he will be getting free medical insurance.

Homeboy says

when in fact he can now get BETTER insurance for LESS money.

Yes, losing your insurance in the middle of being treated for cancer is a good thing. Yes now being able to get Medi-cal (the worse possible insurance) is a good thing. You realize people only get medi-cal because they cant get ANYTHING else. Do you even know anything about Medi-cal???? YOur comments here are the dumbest things ANYONE has ever said in Pnet, that is one HUGE accomplishment!!!! Hats off to you..

Homeboy reposts someone else's words

Thank you so much for your question. As for Mike he was kicked out of his insurance because of the Obamacare. I'm not too familiar with the details about it but I know that currently he is trying to be approved for medi-cal since he has been unable to work for several months and has no income. I believe he is heading toward the final stages and has been close to death but God has kept him with his family. My hopes is to raise as much money as we can but anything even if we only raised $400 we are happy with whatever we can do. Hopefully the medi-cal gets approved soon so that we may at least proper hospice care soon. Thank you for your interest and have a blessed day!

1) The guy has no income, so he can't pay for his insurance. Certainly not the fault of "Obamacare."

2) Her hope is to get the MediCal approved so that "we may at least proper hospice care soon..."

FYI there are non-profit hospices nearly everywhere in the US, certainly in California. Surely one of them would be willing to provide care for poor Mike, whose cancer is "heading toward the final stages..." They would provide for "Mike's" needs, if he truly existed - and would do so in the same manner no matter what the payment source might be.

Does anyone else find it suspicious that the photos were posted only after this shitstorm on p-net? And that Miike's grasp of the English language is about the same as that of the link? And that his arguments make as much sense as the linked story? It's almost as if the author of the link and Miike were one and the same.

Sadly (for Miike), his attacks on my character aren't the reason for the deep-seated depression I find myself in the midst of... As much fun as I'm having watching this Miike dude attempt to defend his position as a supporter of an obvious attempt to bilk people of their money, I have a bigger problem:

I agree 100% with homeboy. Is there a 12-step program to help me deal with it?

55   Homeboy   2014 Feb 3, 3:01pm

Miike:

Explain how he is "unable to be treated for his cancer" because of Obamacare.

Explain how he was "kicked out of his insurance".

Explain how he needs $500,000 when he has already applied for Medi Cal.

Explain how insurance you have to pay for is better than insurance that is free.

Tell us what YOU know about Medi Cal. Actual facts, not just ranting.

Since you claim to be "a friend of a friend", it should be no problem for you to answer those questions.

Yes, losing your insurance in the middle of being treated for cancer is a good thing.

It is if the insurance you "lost" was a crappy catastrophic plan that didn't even meet the minimum standards, and you can get better insurance for free.

See, here's something you obviously don't understand: The problem with the old "system" (if you could even call it a system) was that people were getting these lame policies that didn't cover anything, because they were cheap. But then when they DID get cancer or some other major illness, they would find out the hard way that their policy had an extremely high deductible, or lifetime caps on benefits, or didn't cover the treatment they needed.

Here's how it used to go down: "Oh, sorry you still have cancer, but we already paid out all the money we have to, so you're just shit out of luck now. Oh, and by the way, you have a pre-existing condition, so now you can't get insurance AT ALL." That's why illness was the number one cause of bankruptcy. People lost their insurance ALL THE TIME. The difference now is that they can ALWAYS get it back if they want it.

Not only are you defending such a stupid, stupid system, you are insanely screaming, wailing, and ranting because it's not allowed anymore. You really are out of your mind.
