All I know is that the guy is dying of cancer and he needs money because he lost his job. Frankly thats all i need to know because MY friend who knows this guy personally told me so.... and I believe my friend. He has NO reason to make this up.
Homeboy however apparently has no discretion and felt that he should email the person who set up the website. I only know what he posted, but after he got the email it appeared that he was at least somewhat convinced (although he later contradicted himself and went on to call him a scammer again).
I'm not convinced it's an outright scam, but it's certainly misleading.
I do believe you guys are missing the entire point of my previous posts.
Regardless of whether you believe this guy or not, none of you can be sure if this is true or not. If you disagree with this, I challenge anyone to post any solid evidence or proof.
The majority of my responses have been in defense of this guy because people like homeboy and elliemae have been bascially slandering this guys name, calling him a scammer. I just dont think that is the right thing to do. IN all honesty we know why they are doing this... because obamacare was criticized and therefore they now have to retaliate and make attempts to discredit. Nevertheless, it is still very distasteful to call a man dying of cancer a liar and a scammer regardless of his views on obamacare.
Furthermore, I have never denied that I could be wrong and this guy really is a scam. BUt again the point again is that none of us know for sure. If you guys think he is scamming, that fine... However why not just keep it to yourselves or at the very least politely or tastefully question the integrity of the website that was put up in the case that you are wrong. I would think that that is what a normal thoughtful logical human being might do. Rather I saw cold and harsh comments with every attempts to slander and tarnish a mans reputation without any considerations that this man they slander could in fact be truly dying of cancer. I was really taken aback by the callousness of some of you guys... I suppose this is the reason why I kept responding to these post.

There are many scams out there; the indication of a scam includes misspelling, poor grammar, inflammatory statements such as "Obamacare got him kicked out of his insurance..." (yes, I'm paraphrasing), and inability to verify the information. Lack of posting a photo, and then suspiciously posting one after people began to question the story. This one reeks of bullshit.
Miike has called his detractors "retards" and yet he claims to be a "practicing physician for 14 years." His posts certainly don't indicate that he has anything beyond a rudimentary education, and his use of "retard," his lack of knowledge of hospice, and personal attacks as well as claiming that the linked post includes "facts" lead me to the conclusion that his claims of being a doctor are as real as the post to which he has linked.
Blah, blah, blah. Yes, Miike, we are laughing at you and your many, many, many posts that continue to support our disbelief at "Mike Choi" and "Miike, the internet doctor."

FIrst of all, I am not even sure why you think I know nothign about hospice or for that matter what this has to do with ANYTHING. However, even assuming that I know nothing about hospice, for you as a social worker to think that every physician should have a wealth of knowledge about hospice shows you how little you know about health care. You should know that most physicians do not deal with hospice or end of life care expect for some primary care or palliative care physicians.

I would hope that a real physician would have enough respect for people to understand how utterly disrespectful it is to use the word "retard" in the way that you did. So let's recap, shall we?
Some fool with the handle "Miike" sees a story about a man who allegedly can't get treatment for his cancer because of ACA. Due to his rabid hatred of all things Obama, this gives him a giant boner, so he posts a thread saying "Gotta Love Obamacare" with the text of this dubious story.
Several people point out that it's impossible for the story to have happened the way it is described. Miike flips out and starts cussing at everyone and calling them "retards".
Then we come to find out the man in the story CAN get treatment, and has in fact applied for Medi-Cal.
Since Miike obviously is enraged by anything that helps poor people, he begins flipping out about Medi-Cal. Then Miike lies and says he is a doctor. Nobody believes him, because doctors tend to be educated and don't normally go around cussing at people and calling them "retards" like a 3rd grader.
Then, Miike does a complete 180 and claims he was never bashing Obamacare.
All the while, Miike claims to be a "friend of a friend" of the man in the story, yet inexplicably is unable to obtain a reasonable explanation of what happened from this mysterious "friend".
You couldn't MAKE this shit up.
