That's not why we attacked Iraq. At that time we were importing $10 billion worth of oil, while the cost of invading Iraq was expected to be $50 billion. No one in their right minds will spend $50 to steal $10. It's cheaper to just buy it.
The war was supposed to be over in 2 weeks and cost very little. Even so the taxpayers pony up the 50 billion, the oil companies take the profit on 10 billion Not to mention the portion of the 50 billion that went to the war corporations. Why are you limiting the money to just what the US imports? What about the rest of the oil that would be sold once the US and British corporations took over production in Iraq?

You mean the oil companies would have to do real work to get paid. I don't see anything unfair in that. I don't like polluting oil companies, but let's be fair.

The best use of Winnie the Pooh is to soak him in gasoline, light him on fire and stuff him up Kim Jong-un's ASSHOLE!
Maybe we can send that 7 year old Jihadi to Kim Jong-un with a Winnie the Pooh to do just that. I have full faith in that little Jihadi.
Why we don't go after N. Korea?
We did once. It scared China. It got ugly.
If China thinks we would want to invade them, they are dumber then us.
We have bankrupted ourselves in a war in Afghanistan (despite centuries of historical examples of other nations doing the same), are bogged down in an Iraqi quagmire and alienated most of the world with our response to 9/11. We are quite capable of making regrettable decisions.

I managed to swipe this from the memory hole before it was carted off to the incinerator:
"Iraq War will pay for itself" "Iraqi Reconstruction will pay for itself"

A really great piece from CS Monitor on What was Projected, and what actually happened:

He's a great kid!
He should be on America's Got Talent or one of those shows.
I'll vote for him. Most crazy kids can only kill cats, this one can take off the head of a breathing human. Wow. Such skill, such dedication, such focus.
I give him a "10"

So you are saying a 50 billion dollar war paid by taxpayers, 4000 american dead, and god only knows how many iraq dead to open up Iraq to BP and Exxon is a good deal? Especially since Iraq is so unstable BP and Exxon are going to be totally run out in the next 6 months anyway and the entire iraq war will have been a total waste. Nice, good thinking.
The best thing obummer could do at this point is buddy up to iran and let them wipe isis off the map, which they are ready and able to do. Keeping them from continuing on into isreal might be tough though.
Iraq is going to end up right where it was for 400 years under the ottoman empire before the brits came in 1918. Shia region, Sunni region, Kurdish region.

Have we learned nothing from every damn conflict? If the justification is oil, I will pay $20/gal to get my money and my fellow Americans out of that godforsakenland.
