I'm impressed by all the examples provided. Oh wait, there are no examples of any kind. I can't find any article saying the odds of being killed by an immigrant are almost zero. I have seen that the odds of being killed by a foreign terrorist is almost zero.

But the headline says immigrant. So immigrant and foreign terrorists are the same thing? The associative property at work? All immigrants are foreign terrorists. All terrorist are immigrants.

Didn't we just have a big post about headlines being fake news if they missed telling any part of the story? Didn't @patrick rant and rave about that? Perfect. I I have never died from a nuclear attack, but now I understand that risk to be zero. We can dismantle our nuclear deterrents and relax. Outrage on the part of the loved ones killed by someone who shouldn't be here is quite natural. In WA state, prisoners were erroneously released before they had served their complete sentences. And yes, the loved ones of the deceased victims killed by a few of these criminals after they were released are outraged and are suing the state. Are they racists? Do they hate colored people? Are they Nazis? I don't think so.

Medical research would likely deliver greater benefit at lower cost than a lot of the other spending programs we have currently. Past data show many more people were killed by cardiovascular disease or cancer than by a drunk driver or police officer, or a terrorist. Scott's point is that past performance does not guarantee future results.

People who are actively conspiring to kill as many of us as possible pose a risk disproportionate to their numbers. Their past failures have not dissuaded them from continuing to try, because they know every day is a new day with new chances. Khomeini called America the "Great Satan" because western culture tempts Muslim youth off the Islamic path. Islam commands believers to kill us and to prohibit much of what we value about western life. Politicians paid by Saudi Arabia and campaigning on importing Islam can thus pose problems disproportionate to the number of Americans killed by terrorists during the prior year.
