I recently encountered this C. S. Lewis quote from his 1945 book That Hideous Strength:
"Why you fool, it’s the educated reader who CAN be gulled. All our difficulty comes with the others.
When did you meet a workman who believes the papers? He takes it for granted that they’re all propaganda and skips the leading articles. He buys his paper for the football results and the little paragraphs about girls falling out of windows and corpses found in Mayfair flats. He is our problem. We have to recondition him.
But the educated public, the people who read the high-brow weeklies, don’t need reconditioning. They’re all right already. They’ll believe anything."

Borman's remains were found under a train station during expansion in 1973 about 10 yards away from an intersection where he was last seen by a witness alive.

Well, the GDP for the entire US for the 2nd quarter was about $7.5 trillion
Meanwhile the household net wealth increased by about $7 trillion.
Nobody is calling bullshit on this. Everyone believes in the magical money Faeries.

GDP is not wealth. It's just activity.
A mother quits work to raise her child - negative GDP.
That mother returns to work and now has to pay for childcare - Positive GDP, since the mother is back at work and she's paying for someone else to do the job that that she should be doing herself.

Is welfare and EBT counted as GDP?

top right of the post for instant analysis. Pretty handy, but biased sometimes.
