IIRC, per census data about 4-5 million people reach age of 18 every year in the US. If we conscript everybody reaching 18 y.o. for 2 years we'll have 8-10 million conscripted privates. Add to this the necessary professional army personnel for officer and highly specialized positions and we're looking at a standing army 10-12 million strong. What the fuck are we supposed to do with the army this huge? Dig trenches and fill them up all day every day?

1/3rd of them couldn't run a mile in under 10min. That would be the bigger problem. Then 1/3rd would be too scared that if there was an actual conflict, they'd die. So they'd bail. I think our military is structured well. Moral is huge in war. If half the people (dudes usually) don't want to be there, you're fucked. I think that's what Russia is facing right now hence the nuke threat.

If I genuinely felt our country was attacked, I'd pick up a weapon and fight it two seconds at almost 40. Draft or not. I don't think Russians are that way. We'll obviously see, but 300K should easily outmatch Ukraine IF they are into it, even with the west pumping weapons in to a bunch of drunks. I don't think Russians are up for it. We'll see. Nukes are the X factor obviously.

Yep, these mighty T-62s are coming out of their 50 years slumber:

https://twitter.com/Gerashchenko_en/status/1573239697144520713

And the Imaginary Ukranian tanks that go against them will still not fair well.

Russia will not deploy them against other tanks. They will deploy them against tank-less units like infantry and artillery.

Who said anything about tanks? T-62 is defeated even by RPG-7, no need for fancy Javelins. And RPG-7s are more plentiful than dirt.

It was bad enough that Putin was using some jihadis from Syria and Chechnya to kill Christian and Jewish "Nazis" in Ukraine.

Now the head of the Russian Orthodox church is trying to get in on the action to churn out some "martyrs" for the glorious cause.

Moscow will introduce control over those liable for military service using QR codes. Information about this was sent to state-owned companies, according to telegram channels citing a source from a subsidiary of Sberbank.

Mobilized soldiers and relatives face rejection applying for debt relief

3:53 am, November 28, 2022Source: Kommersant
In November, conscripts and their families began complaining about their inability to access the debt relief which was promised to them by the Russian government. Kommersant noticed an increase in references to the “unfair approach” of banks on the forum Banki.ru.

Clients of Sberbank, VTB, Tinkoff Bank, Alfa Bank, and others complained about refusals and mistakes.

For example, the author of one of the reviews said that he had attempted to get debt relief due to the mobilization of his father, but that “the bank ignored requests in the chat, and the hotline hung up on him.” Another testimonial said that the bank initially accepted the documents, but later rejected them.

Another client said that he was approved for debt relief, but that his payment schedule still hadn’t been changed, “the arrears are burning and the penalties are dripping.”

VTB, HKF-Bank and MTS-Bank explained that the problems with the relief for mobilized people was due to “technical reasons.” Sberbank reported that during peak periods in early October “there may have been isolated refusals” associated with difficulties in the execution of powers of attorney, but “the problem is not acute at the moment.”

Lawyers interviewed by Kommersant believe that the debt relief program is underdeveloped, so banks are free to refuse clients.

A bill on credit vacations for mobilized people was submitted to the State Duma on September 23 - two days after the announcement of mobilization in Russia. It was later extended to all participants of the war in Ukraine. On October 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law.

According to the document, servicemen or members of their families may apply for debt relief until December 31, 2023, provided that the loan agreement was concluded before mobilization or the conclusion of a contract with the Ministry of Defense. If a serviceman dies or becomes disabled, his obligations under the loan are terminated.

Meanwhile, in the USA, the FBI used their wiretap on Guiliani to learn MacIssac had given him a copy of the Hunter Biden laptop in August 2020.

They then had Vivian Somethingorrather, former CEO of NPR, work with the Aspen Institute to hold a "simulation" of Russians "Hacking" Hunter Biden - by name - in September 2020. Dozens of media and big tech organizations were invited and participated

By preparing the groundwork - "Predictive Programming" - the Deep State was able to easily convince Media groups to ban the Daily Mail story on Hunter's Laptop in October 2020.

Are you KIDDING me? NOOOOO.

The intelligence agencies just told the media to report it was "Russian disinformation", and they did, without question.

We really do not have a functioning media. Do you think journalists (propagandists) are so FUCKING stupid that they didn't realize there wasn't a weapons of mass destruction program in Iraq, that Iraq didn't send anthrax letters, that binLaden wasn't working with Hussein? I figured it out, and I'm just some schmuck engineer. It didn't take some fucking genius brainiac to realize the Bush administration was lying.

They aren't stupid. They are liars. They've been propagandists, professional liars, for 2 full decades.

Stop thinking that you're smart and they are just incredibly stupid. They aren't stupid, they are just completely morally corrupt. I'm sure they aren't like you, I would wager a good bet that you have something called "principles". They don't. They are propagandists as smart (and probably smarter) than either you and I. They aren't being fooled or tricked. They are in collusion.

The biggest problem in our nation today, is that people don't fully recognize what corporate media is. It's pure propaganda. It's difficult for most to realize this, but that's precisely what it is. It's not just limited to MSNBC, Fox, CNN, PBS, NPR, NYTimes, it's EVERYBODY, including Fox, Breitbart, NewsMax, the Drudge Report, everybody. Every fucking one of them. You want information, you have to search it out, and that's why the Internet was created. We didn't think the companies we helped create would stab us in the back, but they did, but the information is still there if you make an effort to look for it, and if you ask, I'll be happy to share what I think are fairly reliable sources.
68   AmericanKulak   2022 Dec 19, 5:37pm

Yes.

By inviting all the Media/Big Tech to an Aspen Institute gaming 'session', the FBI prepped the Media and thus they had pre-filled in the blanks about a "Russian Hack on Hunter Biden" story.

So when the Hunter Laptop story broke, they simply went to what they were trained to do.

During the Iraq War, dissenting voices were on Mainstream TV and Press outlets. It was in the second term of Obama, right when the radicalized Millie College Graduates began getting content creation jobs in media, that everything switched dramatically. Prior to that time, the Media would actually considered whether they were being "Used" by Government to break or hide certain stories, sometimes 'out loud' in their own columns. After 2012-2014, the Deep State made it's move having their first generation of Napoleon-trained dogs in Media.

The media didn't have to be prepped. It's more likely that the story about the "Aspen Institute gaming session" is just cover for the fact that the corporate media does what it's been doing for 20 years - lie.

No, it dramatically changed once Clinton changed the laws to allow media consolidation and Colin Powell's son Michael Powell was made chairman of the FCC in 1997. That's when the change began. It's not the "millies" that destroyed it. Servants that would serve were hired, and only them.

It's just been going on for a bit longer than you realize. "Big media" has always been shit. Here is CNN in 1991:

Donahue is basically retired now.

The change happened under Clinton when the FCC allowed complete consolidation of the media. When the Bush administration was lying us into the Iraq war, all media was on board, all of it. The only exception was the Daily Show. The Daily Show became famous because they were the ONLY one on television that would address the lies of the Bush administration. Fox news at the time was 100% in.

Obama just cemented it with the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act to openly allow propaganda to be used against American citizens. He just formalized it, it's been done since the 1970's, although it was technically illegal.

The fundamental change was under Clinton. Not EVERYBODY got to memo though, like Donahue. BTW - I don't have any respect for Donahue, he is a scumbag with his stupid daytime television show. He set the stage for scum like Jerry Springer, Oprah, Geraldo, Sally Springer, etc. God I hate television.

Russian lawmakers voted Tuesday in favor of changes to the country's military conscription rules that would make it easier to summon recruits and stop them from fleeing the country.
...

The new bill would require conscripts and other men eligible for military service to show up to recruitment offices after being notified not only physically, but also online, according to its announced revisions.

Lawmakers in the lower-house State Duma backed the bill in its third and final reading Tuesday.

“We’re introducing notifications by mail and offer the possibility to duplicate these summonses electronically,” Andrei Kartapolov, who chairs the State Duma’s Defense Committee, said Monday.

These electronic summonses would be equated to their paper analogs once the Duma adopts the changes, Kartapolov said.

Those who refuse to show up for service would face restrictions including being blocked from leaving Russia.

On Tuesday, Kartapolov said the new electronic summons would not only apply to conscripts, but all other men eligible for military service.

He added that the digital summons would be classified as received once they arrive in a recruit’s inbox on Russia's online public services portal, Gosuslugi.

Observers say the latest rules would make it tougher for eligible Russians to evade compulsory military service as authorities seek to scrape up more recruits to send into battle in Ukraine.

The electronic summons bill did not appear on the Duma’s website until a few hours ahead of its expected passing on Tuesday, according to independent journalist Farida Rustamova.

Russia’s upper-house Federation Council has meanwhile scheduled its single hearing of the bill for Wednesday.

Once the Federation Council votes on the bill — a step that is generally seen as a formality — it will then go to President Vladimir Putin to be signed into law.

Russia’s online army summons follow the recent digitalization of military recruitment offices, which Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu touted as an improvement over the “red tape and bureaucracy” of physical documents.

Can't be. There are just under 150 million Russians, 1/2 approximately are men so that's about 75 million men. If a million are injured, you'd for sure be seeing that, as it's 1/75th of the population.

But time will tell.
