No deal here:
One of the most naive and contradictory aspects of Trump’s foreign policy, in my view, is his stance on Iran and Ukraine.
Trying to persuade Iran not to build nuclear weapons by offering security and economic guarantees, while simultaneously abandoning Ukraine—which gave up its nuclear arsenal in exchange for similar guarantees—sends a deeply inconsistent message. It undermines U.S. credibility and weakens the value of such guarantees in the eyes of other states.

Make concessions upfront - get more demands:
May 29th:
"I'll let you know in about two weeks.
"Within two weeks. We're gonna find out whether or not (Putin is) tapping us along or not.
"And if he is, we'll respond a little bit differently."

Nice deal with Iran RN, btw.

let's see how this turns out compared to last time missiles were exchanged between Iran and Israel which seemed like restrained geopolitical theater

Most probably the same he did at the end of the previous "2 weeks" - give 2 more weeks.
Trump's chest thumping is right out of "The Art of the Deal".
He wants peace and thinks the Iranians may give up if given an untenable position. He would prefer no US attacks on Iran.
India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri:
Prime Minister Modi clearly told President Trump that during this entire episode, there was never any discussion at any level about an India-U.S. trade deal or U.S. mediation between India and Pakistan. The discussion to halt military action occurred directly between India and Pakistan through existing channels between both armies and was made at Pakistan's request.
Prime Minister Modi firmly stated that India has neither accepted mediation, nor does it do so—and never will. There is complete political unanimity on this subject in India. President Trump understood the details explained by the Prime Minister and expressed support for India's fight against terrorism. Prime Minister Modi also said that India now sees terrorism not as a proxy war, but as a war.

Wait, so puppy eyes and waggy tail and 2 weeks on repeat does not work and is not prescribed in the book? Interesting.
President Trump in a statement:
Based on the fact that there is a significant opportunity for negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision regarding whether to go to war or not within the next two weeks.

sanctions against Russia didn’t work. we cut them off from swift, they were fine.
- First, demand the maximum, do not meekly ask but demand.
- Second, present ultimatums.
- Third, do not give one inch of ground because there will always be someone in the West that will offer you something maybe half that you did not previously have.
Problem with art if the deal is that after 2-3 times no one takes your ask seriously if they know your strategy.
Trump screams for something, everyone knows he’s bluffing ultimatums and asking for the moon and will settle for less.
