@Patrick, any chance of having some stickied or otherwise perma reference to a few things, like Crime Rate by Race?

That way we can just be like, "Click the link on the main page"

What you fail to understand (deliberately, no doubt) is that law enforcement wasn't dispersing the protest, which continued on for several more hours. They tear gassed and fired rubber bullets into the crowd for the sole reason of moving the protesters back a few blocks so that Trump could stage his silly photo op at the church.

Smoke ain't tear gas. And they moved in because liquid balloons were being thrown at the cops.

Which one was more divisive. It's one of those questions that we will never know the answer to.

111527   mell   2020 Jun 3, 6:54pm

Two more things:

When was the last time a "Trumpist" has posted about birther or pizzagate stuff on patnet? You will have to go deep into the archives, birther stuff may be years old. Compare that to Jazz's mother jones / salon / buzzkill threads about some absurd Trump fascism/racism connection day by day.

The other:

Consider yourself getting into a situation where you end up killing a black person unintentionally, maybe you wanted to protect your family in a riot / car blockade, during a possible home intrusion or a similar situation. Maybe you were too trigger / gas pedal happy and have to take some of the blame. Now imagine a mob of millions of people coming after you and your family because certainly there's only one reason you did what you did and it must be !racism! since that is possibly the only reason a white person ends up killing a black person! You could be the most devoted civil rights defender and black lives matter activist, you will be crucified! This is how far we have come, bank on it.

Right - also I remember Kate Steinle didn't pay with a fake $20 bill and didn't resist any arrest, yet she was shot point blank at the SF pier by an illegal criminal and died in her father's arms with most of her life in front of her. The illegal walked free and nobody protested insane sanctuary policies cause clearly not all lives matter.

Yes, it was a photo op at a church. A large percentage of Americans are religious (I'm not) and this helps comfort them. Protestors around the POTUS during this time ain't a good thing whether you like him or not. If you think things are fucked up now, wait until there's some assassination attempt. Risk was too high and a few people had to cry on the way home. Cost of doing business so to speak.

US Park Police.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Park Police is denying it used tear gas to disperse a crowd of protesters outside the White House on Monday night, saying officers instead used smoke canisters and pepper balls to aggressively push back the demonstrators.

Protesters scrambled as smoke filled the streets and AP journalists witnessed people reacting to their eyes and throats becoming irritated. Journalists covering the protest reported the crowd was largely peaceful at the time; the Park Police said they were responding to protesters throwing items, including bricks and frozen water bottles at law enforcement.

Of course, if they were throwing bricks and frozen water bottles, then I'm for tear gas, rubber bullets, and if that don't work, live ammo.

If you entertain any notion that looters are righteous, that Whiteness and White Supremacy are actual problems, not insane left-wing social theories, and are dangerous, you are neither a Trumper, a Moderate, or a Liberal. You are a Far Leftist.

What facts are in an article from the Washington Post? There are few because they editorialize their news content. But you wouldn’t know that from Tim’s postings...nor Jazz’s...nor Thomas Dungs....

Because they link articles without commenting!

You can’t cite an opinion piece( which every single WaPo article is and most NYT articles are) as fact of anything.

The divide isn’t ideological, it’s fact vs opinion. For instance the article Thomas Dung linked earlier today stating that officers fired tear gas into a peaceful crowd. It’s an utterly absurd statement on face value and any rational person would realize were not in communist China or Syria or some other third world shithole where cops indiscriminately attack masses of innocent people. Yet there is was in all glory as a WaPo headline. And Thomas Dung linked and cited it thinking he is some anti Trump genius.

Again that is absurd. No order to disperse? No megaphone “hey we gotta move this thing?” No nothing?

Really. With like every single protestor able to take video? With tons of media? Show me the video of the entire protest and tear gas. Let’s see it.

The problem I had with Obama was he was clever on style but I did not trust him on substance.

Whereas Trump is terrible on style such as his Tweets, but has substance like on securing the southern border, on trade, on energy, on national defense and the economy.

My fear is the Left uses clever style and rhetoric, as well as false labels like Antifa, as the ruthless means to their desired end state.

At least with Trump, he is what he presents himself to be. Whereas, Biden and Obama are deceitful. Except Biden, is not as clever or smooth as Obama.

But Biden is just as arrogant and will shamelessly present himself as what he truly not is.

Yes, you'll see the AntiFa females usually with died purple, dark red, or pink hair. The males usually have man-buns.

Unlike Baltimore, which is not vanilla town like a Minneapolis or a Portland, Oregon.

At the Baltimore riots, the AntiFa whites would cover themselves to not show any skin color. I think that was to not expose that a lot of the violence was being done by militant white liberals or neoMarxists.

They don't want to alienate their base (ie.., AntiFa types). So they can't come out strong against the looting and destruction. So what do they do ?

Classic Democrat move is ask their mainstream media allies to shamelessly claim it is right wing white supremacists causing the riots in Minneapolis, as well as deflecting and blaming Trump and the Republicans.

Thanks for the info. Though, I might mention I was very uncivilly and personally reamed for just asking for it. i don't typically participate in these threads on race so I asked for info, I had never seen before, such a sin.

So over twice as many whites are killed by Blacks as the reverse. But still its a pretty small number as to the overall popultion or the 100K and counting who died of this bad cold that is going around. I suspected it was relatively small that is why I asked about any personal connection to a killing, I dont have any or know of any victims, of this or the covid-19. And I keep getting told to just go out and live my life, the pandemic is all over but yet the same people are fixated on a much lower risk of being murdered by a black. People are funny I guess.

I'm not worried about or fixated on it. Neither should black people or the millions of protestors and rioters be fixated on Floyd. There's nothing to see here except for police malpractice leading to a tragic death which should and will be brought to justice. There's only a few culprits and maybe a poorly run PD. The rest of the nation is completely innocent and should not have to bear looters and rioters and false SJW prophets descending onto them.

You are putting people into little predefined by media buckets, and that's where you are going wrong my man. The rest is just left wing propaganda, I've seen it too. It's pretty aweful, and not logical even.

personal

@Shaman I had to mark that as personal because it is, but I'm grateful to have learned the term "sea lioning":

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealioning

The troll feigns ignorance and politeness, so that if the target is provoked into making an angry response, the troll can then act as the aggrieved party.[6][7] Sealioning can be performed by a single troll or by multiple ones acting in concert.[8] The technique of sealioning has been compared to the Gish gallop and metaphorically described as a denial-of-service attack targeted at human beings.[9]

An essay in the collection Perspectives on Harmful Speech Online, published by the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard, noted:

Rhetorically, sealioning fuses persistent questioning—often about basic information, information easily found elsewhere, or unrelated or tangential points—with a loudly-insisted-upon commitment to reasonable debate. It disguises itself as a sincere attempt to learn and communicate. Sealioning thus works both to exhaust a target's patience, attention, and communicative effort, and to portray the target as unreasonable. While the questions of the "sea lion" may seem innocent, they're intended maliciously and have harmful consequences.

Bingo. And that was also the point of my above comment. If you want to make things about race and be fixated on something, why shouldn't it be black on white crime? Murder is just one proponent of crimes. Given the demographic breakdown of race in this country, blacks are exponentially more likely to cause harm against white people. Yet we're burning the place down for a small fraction of 1% of crimes against black people.

Do I hate them? No. But people need to stop pretending that statistics on this stuff doesn't exist. I don't know the reason and don't have the answer. I have a purely analytical approach, blacks on paper are more racist based on crime statistics against another race. Change my mind.

If that’s the case, wouldn’t your best route be to to remove legal probable cause?

Also perhaps educate people in those areas that the don’t have to talk to police, known as a consensual encounter?

I haven’t seen you, nor any BLM, mention these things at all. Democrats hold power in California, Minnesota, and elsewhere and could change the laws in those states. Frankly they are civil liberties matters and I’d support some ideas in this regard.
