Maybe the fact that 70 million Americans are on mind-altering drugs has something to do with it.

150 million Americans are on mind-altering drugs. The majority of adult Americans drink alcoholic beverages. Alcohol is a mind-altering drug. That's the whole point of it. It tastes like shit, so the only reason to drink it is to alter your mind.

The level of sloth, laziness and apathy that we are witnessing in this country is absolutely mind-numbing.

The grunt worker knows the system is rigged and no matter how much he wealth he produces, he won't get ahead. What did you expect to happen?

Capitalism rewards only one thing: bargaining power. It does not reward wealth production. If you want to be rich, don't do anything productive. Get real good at playing zero-sum games, especially with other people's money. That's the way America works, so why should Americans actually do work?

Yeah, a link can be a piece of shit too. The one Call it Crazy sent didn't even pass the sniff test. I doubt the price is even $135 per too, and ignoring injuries is also silly, in addition to ancillary effects. I believe the estimate I read somewhere for cars that already have an LCD screen (a huge number these days because even the infotainment is now basically a big LCD), the price is about $45/car, but even that sounds high since it's basically a shitty weather-sealed webcam hooked up to your reverse switch (convenient since your white backup lights already are hooked up). Even subcompacts/compacts I've rented lately have an LCD already.

In any case, when it comes to auto regulation, it's not just about what the government wants qua the government. It's also about what insurance company lobbyists want. The insurance companies are the ones that have been driving a lot of the crash test regulations, just as one example.

Note that Honda was already looking to get this almost in every model by MY 2013 -- something like 94% of their cars and 100% of their SUVs/Ridgeline.

This. TFT displays and cameras are almost cheap as sand now; a standalone entry level system could be cobbled together for less than dinner for two at Golden Corral. Most cars have a large display already, as well as being CAN equipped. Adding in a rear camera amounts to stubbing out a connector from the existing rear electronic module, and adding a few lines of software to a few modules.

That said, I think the effectiveness of the cameras will be offset by the side effects of people losing the habit of looking over their shoulders while backing, ever.

How many of those suicides were caused by the toxic SSRI placebos that they had been prescribed as part of their existing "benefits," and which have been shown to double the risk of suicidality? Veterans can face a number of risks; diet and exercise help a lot, but legislative "benefits" accrue mainly to lobbyists, especially PhRMA.

44785   hrhjuliet   2014 Apr 1, 12:48pm

Really, with the tools we have today, as long as you have a lawyer and a title company, and MLS listings can be viewed by sellers and utilized by buyers, why bother paying a real estate agent more than most people make in a year to do practically nothing.

Sellers can use: http://www.homeownersrealty.com/system/login.aspx?redir=&msg=You+must+have+paid+access+to+use+this+feature.
There are other sites like this.

Buyers can simply use Zillow. Things come up there just as quickly as they do on my cousin's, who is a real estate agent, automated listing program.

So why on earth would you use a real estate agent? For what?

What is your point?

1. GOP cuts benefits to vets so that less suicides would occur?

2. Less access to medicine results in healthier vets?

3. What?

Less access to western medicine often does result in better health. That crap will kill you

Is there any indication that these properties are actually producing the anticipated income for the institutional investors?

I agree that so long as the return is seen, they might start buying again if prices fall.

I guess that might have something to do with what happens with organic buyers. Would investors swoop back and run prices up again if they were the only ones in the market?

ALL A REALTOR DOES IS FIND A BUYER

Not really. All a realtor does is sign a contract, then wait for buyers to come along. All a buyer's agent does is hope someone comes along that wants to buy a house.

Realtors are obsolete. Just like those people who go to H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, etc. for their taxes to be done. Sheeple obviously don't realize that the person who is doing their taxes is a seasonal worker with little or no tax experience who plugs information into a computer program and tells you the same info that the tax programs provide for free.

There's a sucker born every minute.

Tried to use entitle direct on two refis - both times they were cheaper than anyone else. One lender allowed it, the other "mortgage banker" did not. Shittibank (ticker symbol C) allowed it. Even shittier American Interbanc refused, citing ED's self-insured status. (The article implies they are insured by Lloyd's, but I don't believe that is true wrt Entitle Direct - maybe it is for one or more of their competitors.)

What you wrote are attributes of a seller's agent. A buyer's agent works with people wanting to purchase homes, by presenting listings and driving clients to properties.

What I would like to see happen is that sellers pay a flat fee to list, and those buyers that feel they need an agent pay for the agent themselves.

You tell US why they have been hiding that number??

One report I saw said that 25% were previously uninsured, so that would make roughly 1.7 million NEW insured...

So, 5.4 million previously had insurance that was cancelled and they just re-signed up on the Obamacare web site...

1.7 million is a long way off from the 30 Million to 40 Million Obama said would get insurance with his awesome program....

You miss the point entirely. Less than .3% of the population went from uninsured to insured, pretty much an insignificant number. So what was the point of this entire exercise? Hmmm. How many people are now having their premiums subsidized? Who are these people that are now getting subsidized health care insurance? Maybe they are in the lower income levels. Maybe they are democrats. Maybe they are voters. What? Politicians buying votes with taxpayer money. Shocking. Say it ain't so joe. I really don't see how anyone could have missed the fact that obamacare was first and foremost a vote buying scheme.

Sure, they look at the mls and in the paper and fsbo sites and drive-bys - but they only show those homes where they'll get a commission. And they don't leave their seat to do it. They also favor listings with higher commissions or those that are "in-shop.' In other words, they don't do much for you.

FSBO is the way to go.

An unmitigated disaster, and the greatest cover-up in the history of human civilization.

This will surely destroy the entire solar system, and quite possibly the entire Orion Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. Indeed: the entire local group of galaxies will never be the same.

If only we could have the Republican plan for health care, which is described as follows:

44807   beershrine   2014 Apr 2, 1:42am

It is do-able selling your own house and yes the buyer will benefit too without 2 realtors cutting into the price. Orange
county prices have exploded here because of those commissions.
asking prices are 16% too high on a $500k house that's $80,000.

In general we should be able to do as we please with our money, but at some point politicians will insulate themselves from the electorate by exploiting donors and redistricting.

That's what I'm worried about. Bribery won't really go away, and we are just making it easier.

Unfortunately, it will NEVER happen... The "sheep" are too pre-programmed to believe they HAVE to pay a realtor 6% to sell their house....

It's just like why a third party hasn't been able to take hold in this country... The "sheep" are too pre-programmed to think there is ONLY two teams... The Red team and Blue team (which are really the same in the end)....

When I look at RedFin, they don't even have a "buye agent", so they are changing it from commission to salary. I'm sure it can be done better too.

Using a realtor is an old system, that is probably going to be phased out on it's own. Internet makes MLS searches a lot easier. Back in the days there was no MLS, so that's where realtors/brokers were actually needed.

44812   edvard2   2014 Apr 2, 1:46am

Conservatives and the GOP simply can't stand that ACA is now starting to work and its becoming more popular. The billionaires who bought their politicians are probably also crying little bitter tears that they wasted billions of dollars on trying to stop it and lost. What a shame. They could have used that money for actual good works in society instead of trying to constantly stop the unstoppable progress which errodes the GOP's position as time goes on.

Yup. This event in history will prove once more that conservatives were once more on the wrong side of history and can add this loss to the mountain of losses they've accumulated over the course of the history of the US.
