And the network execs couldn’t stand it, bowing instantly to the gay agenda as practiced by GLAAD. Free markets have nothing to do with TV. It’s all now about not offending some victim group.

And it’s not about free speech either. TV networks want nothing to do with that archaic concept. They only support free speech they agree with and that most diehard lefties approve.

The conflict was inevitable. Television used to love people from what the media call flyover country. TV scored with hits such as “The Beverly Hillbillies,” “Green Acres,” “Hee-Haw,” and “Mayberry RFD.” Those were celebrations where Americans were reminded of their roots. And when country met city, it was always country that won out with homespun wisdom triumphing over big-city egos and fancy degrees.

But “Duck Dynasty” comes from another era where TV doesn’t celebrate ordinary people, it mocks them. This is the time of “Honey Boo Boo,” and “Buckwild,” the “Jersey Shore” style shows about rural people. These programs were designed so coastal liberals could watch and mock and feel better about themselves while reading their New York Times. That’s likely what A&E bosses thought they had with “Duck Dynasty.”

Boy, were they wrong.

A&E created a show that tried to make fun of rustic rubes and discovered it had inadvertently created the opposite. Instead of Hollywood values triumphing as we watched the stars’ backward ways, traditional values won out every time. They weren’t Obama’s bitter clingers. They cared for each other and kept their faith close. Each episode even ended in a family prayer. Before network execs could try to figure out what John 3:16 meant, they had created a program where faith, family and freedom ruled.

And it became wildly popular.

The bearded stars soon were everywhere, with promotions seemingly in every store. That success didn’t matter. The network still wanted to rein in its stars. Back in April, Phil Robertson said the network had even wanted to delete mentions of “Jesus” from the family prayer, trying to bleep the Savior like He was a four-letter word.

A&E didn’t want its high-profile stars mentioning Jesus. And it sure didn’t want them saying anything else out of the Bible. When Phil did, GLAAD cried foul and that was it.

Before anyone calls FOX talking points, Almost all of the above what this article stated about DD, I posted last year as my exact thoughts on the show.

I can see why some are also angry... they are not placing PR in the fields, which he was, working side by side with blacks when he was young. He too was hoeing cotton like a farmer (both black and white).. Perhaps he too was happy working with Blacks both being Christians... it seems it really escapes what PR was saying.. IT Just doesnt mesh with your Liberal revisionist history and current agenda... Seems where he worked and lived, Blacks were treated with respect, dignity, and were considered Godly Christians. You sad stupid liberals have lost your minds...

"I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person," the 67-year-old reality star said in the mag's January issue about pre-Civil-Rights South. "Not once."
In fact, in his childhood experiences growing up in Vivian, La., Robertson suggested he could relate to the black struggles because he was "white trash."

"Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers," he explained. "I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash. We're going across the field … They're singing and happy."

"I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people' -- not a word!" he said. "Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues."

I understand Hitler had a lot of fans in Germany.

just look at the other programs... drinking, sleeping around, fighting and other distasteful images you see. their formula is about 'driving tension' in the viewer.

Duck Dynasty is most likely by far the most boring show on cable ... not much " action" there...
Yet.. they draw the most viewers...

Typical mental Liberals, get over your selves,
people can have opionions about Gays and not be the Droids you're looking for.
That's like blaming everyone that ever bitched about their Mom's constant calling and meddling behavior, when some psycho with Mother issues, and sexual identity issues as well goes and kill Women because they have deep psychological Mother issues.

Then the next time one someone is kvetching about their mother, stopping them and saying, "STOP you're persecuting Homeless Latina Hookers, that's why Serial killers in big cities prey on them because you're bitching about your mother."

Phils preference to the good book, and his beliefs their in, is non of the gays' business, he's not persecuting Gay people by saying what he believes constitute sin, in the eyes of Most sensible Americans, we're seeing it the other way around.

Have a very Duck Dynasty Christmas everyone ELSE!

Yeah fire them all, put them on FOX so everyone who doesn't have Cable can see them too.

The GOP should dig more of them Up and bombard the television with shows about family values and sincere honesty. I bet they would have 80% of the voting public watching every show.

They could watch that, or the Liberals show calling everyone who isn't a White educated California Liberal Californian who knows what is best for everyone else, calling everyone "STUPID" shows.

DD just bit the Liberals in the Ass, it was supposed to be a "Ha Ha Look at those dumb White rednecks" show.

Duck Dynasty didn't bite Liberals in the ass. It's a stupid teevee show that a buncha people watch. A dude said something offensive and the network suspended him. It's been done many times before, and will be done again.

Remember Marv Albert dressing up for pictures?

Fourteen years ago, we couldn't have expected Marv—then 56, charged with forcible sodomy and assault of a longtime female acquaintance, tried in a three-day proceeding that revealed his fetishes for biting, male-male-female threesomes and ladies' underwear, found guilty of a lesser charge, and fired by NBC—to reach his former career heights. And now it seems he's surpassed them. We've obscured Commonwealth of Virginia v. Marv Albert and its fallout not because it doesn't matter, or because his punishment was excessive, or because Marv changed, even—but because his voice was, is so damn good.
http://deadspin.com/5913641/the-comeback-pig-marv-albert-and-how-to-survive-any-sex-scandal

I'm not sure why you continue to believe that there is a Liberal conspiracy and that we all think alike. Personally, the guy seems to be an asshole. But I don't give a shit if he is on teevee or not. When they held the top-secret liberal vote, I abstained.

29   elliemae   2013 Dec 21, 3:11pm

So? It's still a teevee show. My point is that cap'n thinks that the liberals are upset over his comments, that we all get together and got A&E to suspend the dude. The cap'n seems to think we got the guy suspended.

I don't care what he said, it doesn't affect me. I've never met him and don't watch so-called reality tv. It's not reality.

Aren't his comments on Shintoism a clue that this is another Chic-Fil-A publicity stunt?

Seriously, Shintoism...you can see the nod and the wink from a country mile.

The easiest way to viral marketing for your product these days is to upset the Agenda.

That much is clear. Chic-Fil-A sends the media into histrionics, then backs off, rescinds their words...and opens 100 new franchises along with a donation to some Rainbow Coalition charity. Completely non-cost and no tax advertising!

I do like the fact that he turned nearly every Rightist pundit into a commie by their exhortations that a private business could not terminate an employee for damaging their brand name! That much is rich! He just cleaned all the phonies out of the house. Bye bye Palin, Steyn and all the rest of the phonies.

" In 1890, the Imperial Rescript on Education was issued, and students were required to ritually recite its oath to "offer yourselves courageously to the State" as well as to protect the Imperial family. Such processes continued to deepen throughout the early Shōwa period, coming to an abrupt end in August 1945 when Japan lost the war in the Pacific. On 1 January 1946, Emperor Shōwa issued the Ningen-sengen, in which he quoted the Five Charter Oath of Emperor Meiji and declared that he was not an akitsumikami."

Good catch and very true. The NRA was recently turned down, and more than likely knew that they would be, for a Super Bowl ad buy. Now they get almost as much exposure(and major sympathy from their die-hard supporters) toward their intended audience FOR FREE!
Sarah Palin has managed to do the same thing with her victim-routine(of what exactly nobody but her fellow extremists knows)and make millions per year in book sales, appearance(Fox News) /speaking fees and pointless contributions from her 'admirers'.

This may well even have been a planned exit for the rednecks as it's been known for awhile that the stupid redneck wanted to leave, and will turn this into some f-d up martyr/sympathy marketing to their moronic fans that can't understand the difference between tv and reality.
Look at (again) Sarah Palin, and how popular 'the war on christmas' is with the Fox News crowd(it must be or they wouldn't keep doing it every year)because the poor, and abused white moron that says stupid shit and I'm a victim sells with the crowd that coincidentally watches the 'reality' show of rednecks for rednecks, DD.

What A&E caught on film are some real righteous spiritual people in their quest to paint religions as the monkey's ass.

Just like the TLC execs did a good job in finding the most materialistic, petty, dumbest folks they could find to represent their offerings Breaking Amish and Amish Mafia. Those people were damn near inbred, buffoons and laggards.

The cast of that show could opened a verbal m-16, rocket propelled grenade launcher assault on other races, and lifestyles all they wanted. They would have made sound byte clips into memes to show how stupid they sounded.

They thought they found pure comedy Gold with the Robertsons.

Let me start out by saying that I am in favor of gay marriage and equal rights for all LGBT people. Period.

I also grew up in the south and can appreciate a relic. So I think of the Duck Dynasty guy as an oddity that they picked for the show because he is in many ways outlandish. In my mind, it is the package. It is his generation and his culture. It is what makes him both entertaining and offensive. I have known and loved people like him. I did this in spite of their hateful beliefs, not because of them.

I am glad that someone like him will never be president. I am sad when hateful beliefs hurt people. I am surprised that anyone expected him to have beliefs other than what he stated. To me, it is part of the package. If you were entertained by watching all of the other ways he was backward, why would you kick him off the show now?

It is like firing a Kardahian when they say something shallow or sexist. Would you fire them for objectifying women?

37   Tenpoundbass   2013 Dec 22, 2:11am

bg says

I am too but they don't want equal rights, they already have that.
They want exceptional rights. The right to tell organization the "Definition" of what marriage even is. The right to be exempt from any criticism and scrutiny while they get a bully pulpit media outlet and are free to bombard anyone they disagrees with, all kinds of unsavory names.

Could you imagine if some televangelist parked out front of Anderson Coopers condo and harassed him to and from his door to his car, and followed him down the street. Waiting to get grunt out of him, so they could inject that he said "Death to all people who are religious, fucking Pope cock suckers..." and the majority of the people would then listen to the video a thousand times over trying to catch where he said that.

Instead of perpetuating that LIE they would call them out on it, if it even got that far. Chances are they all would have been hauled off to jail for harassing and stalking long before it even came to that.

Want legal standing with the American tax code where you're life partner is concerned. Then I have no problem with lobbying for those rights. I would even join in with them. I would support that 100% and have said so, countless times here.

What I don't support is rewarding them the exception right to redefine marriage in the eye's of the world's religions. Especially while they use their bully pulpit talk shows to make slanderous blasphemous remarks against religion and those who practice it.

Who said anything about killing people?

Geesh the guy called them a sinner and thinks they are going to hell. Anyone bitching about that already is in hell, if that's all they got to worry about.

When Honey Booboo finds Jesus, the shit's really gonna hit the fan.

These guys have proved resilient to the Liberal hero self destruction formula, and it just pisses them off. That they haven't been able to dig up any past life dirt on them, or any current scandals to destroy them on a media campaign in tweeter and facebook. They didn't make a Facebook post or a tweet, or a sext anyone them selves. Fuck somebody even tried to pass off a Photo Shopped image of Willie Robertsons wife.

And if you think I'm just one mans opinion. Every company that has treaded into the political correct maddness of the GLADD exceptional rights agenda has found them selves quickly back peddling. First of all, if you carry DD merchandise, it is safe to assume you don't have the GLB for your typical clientele. Dare I say the Cracker barrel isn't your local Craigslist MOM hook up spot.

Now that A&E has shot their Golden Goose, multiple networks are falling over them selves to get them on their networks.

Why can't those Robertson's be more like the Cardashians, and those poor saps in those feel good Viral videos where some smug do gooder helps them out in some endearing way. The video is posted on Saturday, by Tuesday they are on every news network magazine segment, by wednesday they are on the talk show circuts, then by Friday the dirt about them surfaces and they are ran out of town by an angry mob with pitchforks and torches, like in Frankenstein.

Why oh why can't they be those innocent boobs, the media sure gets a kick out of eviscerating in front of an international digital audience.

I mean that's MSNBC and Comedy Central advertising gold right there.

40   mell   2013 Dec 22, 3:49am

They are a private company and can do whatever they want, however that in turn means every employer has the right to discriminate as they see fit. You can't have it one way only, if you support anti-discrimination laws for every workplace then this guy should be able to sue the network as he was wrongfully terminated. If you don't, then you have to be ok if an employer fires somebody for promoting pro-gay/straight/black/white/religious beliefs at their workplace if they deem voicing those beliefs not in line with their workplace. This may be tough to swallow for some, but anybody who does not see it that way is not a true liberal. Note that his only applies for private entities.

GI deaths overseas

Oh I see, so you want to hold Phil Robertson personally responsible for what people do over seas to a Soldier in wartime?

But you couldn't come with anything that fits into the context of what's happening over here. Again I doubt those Muslim extremists are watching Duck Dynasty about christian capitalists.

It's natural to be gay if you are gay. And it's natural for those who aren't to take a personal objection to it. Not an objection of the individual, just the right to be get the heebie jeebies at the thought of them personally being gay. It certainly is well with in their right if that's how they feel.

Call it a good day, that's as good as it gets, for those folks to just walk the other way and want no part of it, rather than to be thrust into the mix with them, when they'd just rather not. That's where problems come.

You guys just want to force everyone to eat your Green eggs and ham, with out objection or protest with a big approving smile on their face while they do it, and it's no different than if the religious right were going around(which it could be argued they did and probably still do) trying to force everyone to go to church and repent for their sins and those of their fathers.

To tell you the truth, I like Gays better than this lot that is always trying to make issues out of ones gayness and more importantly ones lack there of Gayness.

All the Gays I know will just tell you to fuck off if you don't like it, they don't make a crisis mode out of it. Unless it was a handsome guy that rejected them. And it's really no secret to them how Phil Robertson feels about Gays, they wouldn't attend a Roberton's BBQ on a bet. Not because they feel dejected by them, but because they feel the Robertson's are beneath their social payscale.

45   Tenpoundbass   2013 Dec 22, 5:41am

Dear Diary

I was in the middle of the parking lot of my school, and a group of cowboys surrounded me...

They took a lasso out and started throwing it around my neck...

...I was able to get it off.
...All I can remember is being surrounded by these people,
...and all I could do was just keep walking.

I just finally was able to break free from them, and got into the school.

There was a substitute teacher for my class, and I told her to lock the door, because I was afraid that they were going to come in, and harm . . . even in front of a teacher. . . . I actually made her like lock the door.

I called the administration from the in-house phones. I was so hysterical I said, "They tried to throw a neck around my rope." I was humiliated. I was embarrassed. sent me home on the same bus as these kids.

I would bet anything the instigator has suppressed Homosexual feelings, and for him/them it was homo erotic encounter, that they pulled off with out having to acknowledge they might be gay them selves.

1) they didn't string up this guy
2) he was very vague about his interaction with them other than the rope and tree.
3) he was able to get away while they are all surronding him with a rope around his neck, what did he use a kungfu chop?
4) he goes to his class and finds a Substitute teacher filling his spot.
5) he makes up a story and calls the cops
6) he mixes his bullshit up, and says "They tried to throw a neck his rope"
7) everyone gets a funny haha and he's made into a laughing stock Victim.
8) He takes the school bus home, but I thought he started out driving into work so late that no one was out in the parking lot to come to his defense when the OZ jailbreak rabble, came calling on him in the parking lot.

Did they at least tip?

But lets say his story is true, and my assessment of who the perps were is true as well.

So you have all of the Males who are totally hetero and don't give gays a second notice other than to have the opinion they are going to hell.
But the ones who are fucked over in the head, and are confused mentally and suppressed sexually and chocked with self condemnation and loathing because they are gay. I'd bet that lot has more to do with violent acts against gays in this country than the other.

Let's say you get everyone to join hands and come sing lets all get gay engaged in a human hand holding chain that spread across the nation, "WORLD" even.

Do you think that would ever stop people from deep psychological issues, who claim to hate gays, and wishes them harm while having gay tendencies them selves?

These guys are sociopaths, they have a lifetime of experience feigning affection and pretending to like someone, smiling all the time around them but pushing them off a cliff the first chance they get alone with them.

Will that STILL be Phil Robertson's fault?

“For the sake of the Gospel, it was worth it,” Phil tells me. “All you have to do is look at any society where there is no Jesus. I’ll give you four: Nazis, no Jesus. Look at their record. Uh, Shintos? They started this thing in Pearl Harbor. Any Jesus among them? None. Communists? None. Islamists? Zero. That’s eighty years of ideologies that have popped up where no Jesus was allowed among those four groups. Just look at the records as far as murder goes among those four groups.”

He made an anecdotal observations it's not like Liberals aren't constantly guilty of that. I don't see Phil saying that, any different than the Elitist Liberals who suppose that if they weren't born rich they'll never be rich. Or that poor people are of lower intelligence than the well off Gated Community class.

Maybe you should ask it of Phil since he's such a hero to you.

I doubt he would talk to me, as I am a sinner and a dope smoker, I bet he has less hope for me, than he does for gays. He doesn't think I'm any different than those who commit bestiality.

But I damn well respect his right to his opinion, and has my blessing to blab it to any tabloid he damn well chooses.

Someone is willing to commit felony murder and the worst you can say about them is that they're probably a faggot. You're a swine.

And back to this guys bullshit story, that was posted with out a date the incident occurred or the community in which it occurred.

Where in the hell do you find "Cowboys" in a school parking lot?
Were they on horses, and wearing chaps? Were they sporting ten gallon hats? How do you take a story like that at face value without asking at least... "What makes you say there were Cowboys?"

Why is this not considered "Stereo typing" even in his lie?
I mean it wouldn't be the first kind of this story where a Gay person fabricated a news event that didn't happen. At least this guy didn't get crowd funded donations.
