If we start using natural gas in cars, that 200-300 years supply drops dramatically.
How do you come to that conclusion? Given that most power plants utilize extremely precisely made turbines versus the literally millions upon millions of cars in various states of maintenance all across the country?
A dramatic increase in usage of natural gas will decrease the number of years of supply.
Here is an analogy that even a liberal might understand:
You have 20 apples.
You eat one per day. That gives you a 20 days supply of apples.
Instead, if you eat 2 apples per day, that would give you 10 days supply of apples.

I heard a story on the radio this morning: In North Dakota as much as 30% of the current natural gas coming out of the ground is being flared off- or burned off because there's so much of it that they simply don't have enough storage to stick it in even as more is being built. There is an absolute shit-ton of natural gas in this country.
Here's another thing to think about: Coal plants have to meet increasing emission restrictions that makes them more and more costly to operate. With Nat gas there is less emission and therfore its less costly to burn.
This isn't a liberal or a conservative argument. Its about simple mathematics and economies of scale.
Obama's speech was like getting a hand job from a pickpocket.
Well at least your social life is improving...
Prices are up, banks are selling their REO's. What will people discover next, that the sun rises in the east?
But I thought rental income is the new economy?
So why are they selling instead of renting out?
You need to discover Sandy Hook was a Zionist Hoax
Thanks, but I think I'd rather check out my toenail fungus instead.
Home sales don't need to go "pending" when they're all cash:
1. Put on MLS
2. Get fifteen over-asking, all-cash offers within seconds.
3. Accept check from highest bidder.
Five... ten minutes tops.
Buy up America. Great idea. Who needs a war to take us over? How clever. I have a group of friends and colleagues working on a legislation to create limitations on foreigners buying American real estate. They are trying to raise awareness through posting on social media sites and posting articles at present. If any of you have any ideas on how to progress the movement forward, or know of any other groups involved in this issue that I could research? Schumer-Lee bill I believe to be a huge mistake. I know there are plenty of people on this site that don't give a damn about this country, its vision, the or the saving of our democratic republic. They are the heralds of the plutocracy and are only concerned with gaining wealth. I know that there are other types on this site; people who care about the common good. If you do believe in a more just government and the world that our American ancestors fought so hard to establish, please become more familiar with the selling of this country, and actively fight against it. The media is not going to spread the word, so do it yourself; in social media sites and in conversation. Write your congressperson, start a protest. We are still allowed to protest. http://robertreich.org/post/11881926504
WOW! The UNtrustworthy are certainly in control of what information is apparent to the people!
Say hey! This was in the Wall Street Journal on March 30, 1999. Note "... how much it will buy."
Holy cow/interesting/compelling ...!
And where is it up to date??? Right here ... see the first chart shown in this thread.
Recent Dow day is Thursday, January 30, 2014 __ Level is 101.6
WOW! It is hideous that this is hidden! Is there any such "Homes, Inflation Adjusted"? Yes! This was in the New York Times on August 27, 2006:
And up to date (by me) is here:

SHILLER SAID TODAY "Well, I think bubble behavior is here to stay. So, showing a plot of [inflation-adjusted price] data is helpful, but most people will not be deterred by it."

I bet a lot of people will respond to this call for a boycott by saying, "Psssht!"
The San Francisco Bay Area has high prices as it is the home of many high paid tech workers. A couple of programmers can bring in anywhere from $180,000 to $250,000 per year. Long distance commuting is a bitch and these people with RECENT skills are in demand.
That is what drives prices so high. Jobs and employment possibilities have always driven real estate.
I moved South as it makes no sense to be retired and live in high housing cost NorCal as there are many high tech workers who can pay these prices.
Three down, less than two to go until the end of the world as we know it.
Today is a nice bull day so far there chap. Hold on for the ride. Down we go, this is just the start. Back to 10000 for the DJIA before this game is done.
Attention K Mart shoppers: Less than one trading day left till the end of the world as we know it.
Boo hoo. I can hear your crying from here, keep it down. Down is the new norm, get used to it. Don't go out and buy that new car now there champ, you need that money to cover the losses that are coming.

We also have more and better sex.
That said, Obama is no liberal, not even remotely.
Someone who doesn't drink is considered being "Conservative".
Otherwise they would partake in a "Liberal" dose of hootch.
Drinking too much is considered being too Liberal.
Like the Drunks in Washington right now.
Russian nationalists skinheads don't exactly abstain from vodka...
Not that I disagree with the conclusion, but that chart is stupid. The correlation between political ideology and alcohol consumption should be done at least at the voting district level if not a finer granularity. Doing it at the state level is just crude.
Also, the research should have classified what kind of alcohol consumption is associated with each sample: beer, wine, liquor, etc.
Really, can't anyone in the press do real research anymore? Just look at how marketing companies data mine. When money is on the line, people get a lot more specific with their statistics.
Drinking too much is considered being too Liberal.
Like the Drunks in Washington right now.
Ah, yet another illustration of conservatives' ineptitude in reasoning.
1. Group A and group B are both composed of N people, where N is high enough to be used in a simple random sample.
2. Group A drinks more alcohol than group B.
Based on these facts, can we conclude either
3. More people in group A get drunk than people in group B.
4. The total number of drunk person-hours in group A is greater than in group B.
Anyone who isn't completely inept at logic realizes the answer is obviously no to both conclusions. Group A can easily drink more alcohol than group B, but pace themselves so that they get drunk less often (even never) than group B.
There is simply insufficient information to conclude that liberals get drunk more than conservatives based on the premise that liberals drink more than conservatives. And that is assuming the persons carrying out the study even got the definition of liberal correct, and that's a big assumption.
What a stupid thread. Many conservatives are bible thumpers who don't believe in demon rum. Duh.

Sufficient data mining could filter for that and determine if political ideology independent of religious doctrine affects alcohol consumption.

Zimmerman is a registered Democrat.
He should switch. Republican philosophy is more in line with his.
Recent news was that a serial killer did the Simpson murders. OJ sent the guy in there to get some things for him, tho, but didn't intend the killing. So he was innocent. Sort of.
OJ wanting his stuff was a recurring theme, culminating in the Vegas episode that landed him in prison for real.

Is there a statistician in the house?
I draw far different conclusions from the provided graph. Only 6 data points represent low-drinking less-liberal states, and the highest consumption numbers are less-liberal as well.
The 6 low consumption conservative states are probably bible belt states with blue laws still in effect, and the graph does not reflect undocumented moonshine anyway.
Hmmmm... why are the liberals here so concerned with this study???
No one liberal or conservative with more than 2 working brain cells is concerned with such a dumb ass study. Why are you concerned enough to post it in the first place?
No one liberal or conservative with more than 2 working brain cells is concerned with such a dumb ass study.
Then why did YOU respond to it so negatively???
Im not concerned in the least, I just think it' just plain old stupid and am amazed anyone would actually bother to bring it up. Must be a really, really slow day for the liberal bashers. BTW I'm an right leaning independent, formerly a Reagan republican until I realized I had been scammed.
From what I have observed, liberals are more likely to drink wine and microbrews while conservatives are more likely to drink hard liquor and swill americana symbol beers such as miller and budweiser, the companies which ironically aren't even american.

Too bad zimmerman ain't white.
Stereotypes save valuable thinking energy.
You are assuming the people using stereotypes are capable of actually thinking. You know what they say about assume.

Ahhh... You just burst Dan's narrative.... Boo Hoo...
And you just supported it. Unless you believe that there are no racists in the Democratic party.
Since you've proven it by showing that GZ is a registered Dem, and Dan contends that the GOP is the home of racism, then Dan is right that GZ should run as a Republican.
Then he should run for Senate as a Republican.

Hardly. Yes, Democrats can be gun toting, racist assholes who kill innocent people, but Republicans far more often fit that profile.

Yup

Off to a great first month here folks. The effect of tapering hasn't even been felt yet. Can you say "blood bath".
