An End to Free Trade

Perhaps no single proposal by Donald Trump is as striking and antiquated as his strategy to keep American jobs from being "taken away" by foreign countries, such as Mexico and China.

Trump doesn't consider international trade to be a win-win proposition as do most modern economists. Instead, Trump believes that trade wars have clear winners and losers, and that currencies and trade restrictions must be used to ensure victory.

At various times throughout his campaign, Trump has pledged to put in place a 20% tariff on all imported goods. He told an audience that he would have told the CEO of Ford Motor Co. that he would have the government impose a 35% tariff on all Ford products if a Ford motor plant was shut down in Detroit and moved to Mexico. He has said that he would even impose a Chinese-specific tariff to offset the effects of Chinese currency manipulation.

Five-Point Tax Plan

Along with his 20% tariff on imported goods, Trump also wants to impose an additional 20% tax on companies that hire foreign workers.

The fifth part of the five-point plan is a simplified tax code with the following brackets: 1% tax on the first $30,000 in income, 5% tax on all income between $30,000 and $100,000, 10% tax on all income between $100,000 and $1 million, and a 15% rate on all income above $1 million.

Foreign Policy

Trump projects a hardline stance on illegal immigration, turmoil in the Middle East, and negotiations with China, Russia and Iran.

President Trump would push to build a physical wall on the border with Mexico. He proposed sending Exxon Mobil to Iraq to "take back the oil" to starve ISIS. However, he refuses to say whether he'd commit more American troops overseas.

No HE hasn't................................... Consider the statement modified to No wonder so many of his organizations have gone bankrupt. Gee let's make him head of the organization called USA since he has such a great track record for running things to date.

well, given the USA, closing in on 20 trillion in debt, is already bankrupt, Trump will inherit this situation and he has demonstrated time and again his ability to come back from the dead and succeed.

Give it 5 years and China will probably equal greater than 50% of the revenue for my company ... even at the lower growth projections they are at now.

That assumes that a Chinese company doesn't figure out how to copy your business in the next 5 years. Which they are almost certainly trying to do.

35   Tenpoundbass   2015 Aug 5, 6:20am

No matter how well Donald does tomorrow night, we(the American voting public) will have to endure him and his brand for a year and about 5 months without him overstaying his welcome and giving even his most ardent supporters now, Donald fatigue by Nov 2016, He's not going to be able to do that by calling everyone losers. That's what we've got the Liberals for elitist name callers.

Has the US missed any of its debt payments yet?? So, by your own definition, the country is not bankrupt. For someone who is so concerned with grammar and meanings, you are very confused on the definition of bankrupt.

It depends on the meaning of the phrase "unable to pay debts"....
Since the whole english language has been harpooned by the left, in this case we are both wrong, and we are both right.

tatupu70 says

43   Y   2015 Aug 5, 9:57am

If "debt" is interpreted as meaning "a payment", then the USA is not bankrupt.
If "debt" is interpreted as meaning "the totality of what you owe", then the USA is bankrupt.
Since the whole english language has been harpooned by the left, in this case we are both wrong, and we are both right...

No, you are wrong and I am right. You cannot say that the US is "unable to pay debts" because it has and continues to pay them. At no point has it ever NOT paid any of its debts.

All you can say is that "in your opinion, at some point in the future the US will be unable to pay its debts". Which is certainly an opinion you are entitled to. But it is factually incorrect to say the US is currently bankrupt.

And yet he advocates shutting down government as a legislative tactic on an issue he's flip-flopped on. He's grossly unstable, but he's the perfect mouthpiece for the big "Fuck You" America wants to give its government, especially its legislators. He's too unstable fiscally (his repeated reliance on bankruptcy) and topically (abortion rights and political advocacy) and verbally to be taken seriously as a candidate late in the run. He may hold his tongue in this debate, but in subsequent debates as the clock really counts down and the mud really starts flying he probably won't be able to keep it in his pants (freaking out is what fuels his popularity) and remain on the GOP ticket. I just hope he paces himself and saves the money shot for when he can do the most damage to the GOP/Koch inspired plan to destroy government and let money determine the structure of life.

Even if all of this were true, it would still be a big improvement over Obama.

The gallup poll above is directly asking about approvals of Obama, and shows Bush's level before he took office.

Obama's approval ratings have been far far higher than Bush's 8 years across the globe.

It's even weirder than that--the Cap often criticizes Obama for being too conservative(!) then supports candidates that are much, much further right. And then justifies it by saying that--at least those candidates don't misrepresent who they are.

Despite Obama's apparent popularity with the world's ankle-biters, what has it translated in terms of benefits to American interests? Virtually every corner of the globe is more dangerous and less friendly with the US today than it was under Bush.

In 2013 it was a bad thing as Gadaffi was tamed, cooperating against Al Qaeda and voluntarily turned over his nuke and WMD program which helped us expose the AQ Khan/North Korea nuke proliferation ring.

One would think that with all that "Smart Power" in the Obama Administration they would have learned after the Iraq War not to conduct Regime Change in the Muslim/Arab world if you don't plan on filling the void with a massive number of troops.

Just wait until the Republicans start running this clip against Hillary.

Most people say Bush was lousy. Obama ran on being the anti Bush and turned out to be Bush on steroids-not what the doctor ordered. Hillary looks like she will be Obama on steroids-she helped craft the tpp and now distances herself from it-lying POS.

Another Bush while on the menu-I don't think we have the stomach for. o trump it is and maybe Bernie. he is a bit socialist for my taste, but a repub congress can balance that out.

Make my nothing burger medium rare.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/05/politics/donald-trump-corey-lewandowski-recordings-arizona/index.html

Lewandowski insisted Thursday that Borders "never worked for the Trump campaign in any capacity," citing the fact that Borders was never paid and did not have a contract -- something Borders does not deny...

"Like many people he was going through the process of potentially doing work for the campaign," Lewandowski said. "Like we do with everyone (who reaches out), we tell them why don't you put a plan together and we'll vet that."

He said others were also putting together proposals and Borders was in no way about to be hired by the campaign.

Lewandowski said phone conversations between him and Borders in no way reflect the seriousness of the relationship, telling CNN that he returns calls of many people interested in playing a role in the campaign.

In the recordings of phone calls, Lewandowski discusses potentially hiring Borders to lead the campaign's Arizona operations before telling him the campaign would need to downplay him as an "overzealous volunteer" in a later phone call.

After learning of Borders' Facebook posts -- which include a doctored image of President Barack Obama in a turban with a beard, several photos of Obama alongside Adolf Hitler, and another photo saying Obama was "twice elected because the color of his skin rather than the content of his character -- Lewandowski tried to distance the campaign.

Sounds like a mole from the GOP or the slimmy Libs(nothing is beneath them).
The takeaway here is this guy called Trumps campaign, they said show us what you got kid. Borders then whips out his junk and pisses on the Trump campaign.
Then he was told he sucks and to take a hike. Not to be dissuaded his liberal or GOP backers told him to double down on being an honest Trump staffer.
This is going to be funny when Trump hires detectives and lawyers to weed out the Rat in the woodpile.

Speaking of artwork, I don't understand modern art. In one of my prior companies, they used to display art work. One was marked at 15k and was grey with three black dots and quite a few were very similar with same price ranges.

I don't understand it. if I get a board paint it solid and splash a few dots, I get 15k per board. I just need to do 10-15 boards a year and I am set??
