He's not, you are correct. But 7 comments on your own OP is excessive when there was only 11 total. The reason was likely to keep it at the top of the main feed. The first 3 comments are his? Why not just do that in the OP or maybe do 1 comment for corrections? And you already have the edit function.

Just don't want to see a trend where someone just makes a bunch of one line comments on a topic to keep it at the top of the feed. TPB did 3 in a row here, but 2 were at least multiple sentence responses to the OP. Comments 7, 8 and 9 were also useless. Basically I'm pointing out that I could easily monopolize the "above the fold section" of the site with new threads and then comment on my own threads while no one else interacts.

This probably isn't the best explanation, but this thread just felt very spammy/trolly and with repeats with what was already in the OP, by the OP if that makes sense. Not sure there's a way to correct it. Maybe limit to 2 consecutive comments if there hasn't been another member reply? Or make a prompt (like delete or flag) that says you've done X number of posts, please edit a previous post to get your point across?

You do know what spam is and what my point was, right? I also can't ignore for obvious reasons, or so I thought. There were 3 comments from the OP saying the exact same thing. Not about politics at all. It was no different than making three comments saying fart, fart, fart. The first fart was fine, the others? Completely spamming the site. I prefer exchanges of idea and thoughts even if they get testy. Not repetitive bull shit. Thought that was common sense, guess not?

Flynn will be completely exonerated if he hasnt been already. The coup against Trump will have repercussions , albeit almost definitely less than the promised fox news bombshells as you point out above.

Solution, just make 3 comments up. Gives it the look of an active post with 3 comments and yes, it does bring it back to the top. And BAM, post is more likely to be read and was.

You're now going to say this isn't what you were doing and I know that's not true. We'll have to just disagree on that before you come back and say I'm wrong, because I'm not. I (and most) would have never read this thread without seeing the high comment count and you know this to be true.

You were comment pumping the thread to make it look more active than it was to get people baited and still also bump it to the top. You could have quoted all 3 in one post unless you hit the character limit, which you wouldn't have. So 6 comments should have been 1. I think you knew what you were doing, but maybe you really didn't know. Now you do. It happens on every forum and it's annoying and keeps bad topics highlighted that never should have been.

You do different content/comments though if you do a string. I'm okay with that, although it would be nice to have it wrapped up in one nice package admittedly. But it's not a big deal, like TPB did above.

You also don't make a new post, see it's flopped with other users and then make 3 comments before others users have said anything about the topic. Everything in the first 3 comments was already stated in the OP.

It's a tactic used by trolls in other forums and lessens the experience and conversation that can be good here at times. Hence why I tagged @Patrick in my previous comment here. It's the center of attention troll that tries to keep a bad topic relevant by building up the comment count. The edit button works just fine for up to a week I believe. Which negates the excuse made here as well about TPB changing comments.

Either consciously or subconsciously people will read posts/topic with higher comment counts. Forum 101.

Yup. I know it's impossible for Patrick to stop, but it's annoying. I've said it a while back, I don't even like being allow to change usernames. I get it's about the conversation/argument and not the person, but ultimately the person is material to the discussion. I dislike getting into bullshit with people I know that are not going to listen to any or even bad idea. They're close minded out the gate. Ignore only works if they keep the same account, which many times they don't.

I miss the days when we could click into a profile and see past user names as well. I think that should come back at minimum if someone hasn't created a new account with a brand new email. I know with VPN (which I sometimes use) it's impossible to do the IP address linking accurately, but at least link multiple usernames to a singular email if they change the username.
