The “massive bribery scheme” Giuliani is referring to has to do with Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, who held a directorship with a Ukrainian natural gas company called Burisma Holdings in 2014. At one point, Hunter was making $50,000 a month from Burisma. ...

Yoshiko M. Herrera, an expert on Russia and Eurasian policy at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, told the Washington Post that Hunter Biden’s position was “a conflict of interest even if it doesn’t break any laws.”

“Calling Hunter Biden a private citizen ignores the obvious links to the vice president,” Herrera said. “Conflict-of-interest rules should have applied. If Biden is working for the Obama administration on Ukraine, his son should not have been on the board of a company there that could be affected by U.S. policy spearheaded by his father.”

Even the extremely biased NY Times has to admit that Hunter Biden was unethical:

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/20/us/politics/trump-whistle-blower-ukraine.html

When he was vice president, Mr. Biden cast himself as both the Obama administration’s advocate of military assistance to Kiev as well as the chief antagonist of the notorious corruption in Ukraine’s government. In early 2016, he threatened to withhold $1 billion in American loan guarantees if Ukraine’s top prosecutor was not dismissed after accusations that he had ignored rampant corruption.

Mr. Biden succeeded; the prosecutor general was voted out office. And Hunter Biden had an interest in the outcome: He sat on the board of an energy company that had been in the sights of the ousted prosecutor general.

It was right of Trump to call for investigation of Hunter Biden. He should also figure out who in his administration is spying on him for the benefit of corrupt Democrats.

Actually your assumptions sound greater to me than the assumption that when Trumps son met with Russia it was to collude with Russians to get dirt on Hillary. I was not one to argue that that alone was impeachable offense for Trump, if indeed the meeting was all about the campaign. If sanctioned by daddy though ? I don't know.

Also, I agreed, this kind of corruption (if true that it was only a payment for access or favors) probably is a deal breaker with democrats

But I thought conflict of interest and corruption was what you guys like about Trump.

Name the corruption and conflict you speak of. What did Trump do?

Not expecting an answer.

I don't even understand why Biden is considered a viable candidate. The dude struggles to speak. I don't care about this story at all and don't think most should. Every high level politician pulls strings to get family members jobs, that's old news.

I'm just seriously more concerned he's considered a contender at all in the Democrats primary process. Anyone with a functioning brain knows this too. This is why no one trusts polls or the media anymore. The guy is an old Mimbo.
18   Shaman   2019 Sep 23, 7:10am

Biden won’t be the Democrat nominee. If you consider the polls, around 70% of the vote is for progressive candidates. So far, Warren and Sanders have been vying for the top Progressive slot, with warren pulling a bit ahead. Old Uncle Bernie isn’t as trusted by the rank and file as Warren is, fake Indian or not.
It’ll probably be Warren, and she’ll probably take on Bernie as a running mate to lock in his voters.

Every time a foreign government or corporate interest stays in one of his hotels or plays a round of golf is at a minimum the appearance of a conflict of interest. The number of events is endless. Now one can argue its all innocent when the Saudis book a whole floor of his hotel for a month, and I am sure there is the belief by his supporters it is but all that shows is willful ignorance. Remember "The Saudis pay cash" He has done business worth millions and millions with them over the years by his own admission, he bragged about it and now he awaits his orders to direct our service men and women to fight their battles. To me it doesn't get more corrupt and conflicted than that.

Oh yeah...I'm sure good ol Hunter just spends much of his life in Ukraine serving on the board. I wonder if he speaks the language.

Did Biden Jr. smear himself with caviar and have Ukrainian hookers urinate on him like Trump? Maybe he should become Republican.

Russian and Ukrainian hookers who can pee eight feet in mighty geysers are especially prized as honey traps.

When I owned a Nissan, while it was in warranty I'd take it to the dealership for its scheduled service. They had a huge wall-mounted TV always tuned to CNN. I'd sneak the remote away from the counter and change it to TCM as long as I was there.

China grants trademarks to Ivanka and Donald's "quo" part of quid pro quo: Trump starts a trade war with China. Hmmm.

As for Trump making a quid pro quo fortune on dignitaries visiting his properties... I'm having a hard time believing his business are actually doing better. Many leftists actively avoid his properties. And, should a jetliner happen to nose-dive into one of them everyone will be avoiding the properties.

The trade marks were granted during the early days, you know when Trump and Xi were feeding each other that wonderful chocolate cake at Maralago. Sad, the trade war came later when Xi didn't roll over and beg for more cake. I guess trade wars aren't as easy to win as Donald thought.

Not really, The time line doesn't work. The investigation was already dormant when Biden got involved. Here is the time line; the background of all this is the Russian annexation of Crimea and subsequent proxy war Russia started in Eastern Ukraine which included as one might remember the shooting down of a civilian airliner with Russian missiles.

What is perfectly clear and beyond dispute is that Trumps acting DNI is breaking the law by not forwarding the whistleblower complaint to Congress; but who cares when we can fantasize about Biden bribing a country.

The following timeline details key moments in the Biden family’s involvement in Ukrainian affairs and Trump’s effort to use those actions as political ammunition.

April 21, 2014: Biden, then vice president, visited Ukraine’s capital, Kiev, in a show of support for the country’s government amid rising tensions with Russia.

May 13, 2014: Burisma Group, a private company that has drilled for natural gas in Ukraine since 2002, announced that Hunter Biden would be joining its board. Around that time, Burisma’s founder, a former government official named Mykola Zlochevsky, was under investigation for alleged money laundering by Britain’s Serious Fraud Office.

Dec. 8, 2015: Biden visited Kiev again and spoke out against bureaucratic corruption that he said was eating Ukraine “like a cancer.” Biden threatened to withhold loan guarantees unless Ukraine’s top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, who had been widely accused of corruption, was removed.

Shokin had investigated Burisma but the probe was dormant at the time Biden pushed for the prosecutor’s termination, Bloomberg reported earlier this year, citing a former Ukrainian official.

March 29, 2016: The Ukrainian Parliament voted to remove Shokin.

Jan. 23, 2018: Biden, at a Council on Foreign Relations event, detailed how he had threatened to withhold funds from Ukraine if Shokin was not removed.

April 2019: Hunter Biden’s term as a Burisma board member expired and he stepped down from the company.

May 11, 2019: Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, said he was canceling a planned trip to Ukraine. Giuliani came under criticism from Democratic lawmakers after saying in media interviews that he had planned to meet with Ukraine’s new leaders and push for investigations that could help Trump.

July 25, 2019: Trump spoke with Zelenskiy and reportedly pressured him to investigate Hunter Biden.

Aug. 12, 2019: A whistleblower from within the intelligence community lodged a complaint with a internal watchdog that reportedly focused on Trump’s contacts with Ukraine.

Yup, and so did Trump for his family. I don't understand why this is news. Until nepotism is illegal, this all doesn't matter. Or if there's proof someone committed an illegal act, outside of the appearance of it because they got work for a family member.

If anyone here runs a business with 10+ employees you understand the pressure from family and friends that ask to have a job because you're the owner. It's gotta be one of the top 5 annoyances (not problems necessarily) of running a business or getting into public life in government. People and especially family and friends all want a hand out. You gotta do your job and then deal with all the noise.

They have no platform nothing positive to say and have nobody to run against Trump, all they have are crazy rants and a bunch of grasping for straws that backfire every time.

So its just fine that the President asks a foreign leader to look into ( find dirt on) the man that he sees as his chief rival in his reelection campaign? And it seems quite clear have the attorney general involved in this "investigation" And while he's at it find the allegedly missing DNC server and determine how the Muller investigation began. And by the way dont look for any of that 250 mil in assistance until we see some results. Yea seems Ok ...for a banana republic

Yeah, the double standard is hilarious. Like somehow people forgot about what politics really are just because we have an ass hole in chief (not that it matters, on paper I'm fine with an ass hole in chief, but hey people like to complain).

THIS STUFF HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED!!! You should be t-bagging Trump because he's showing all your hero's asses for what they are. And Trump is still playing the game at the same time. I think the hole is too deep that most people have dug, and they have no way out now. Now Trump is just taking a bulldozer and pushing the dirt on top of them.

It's honestly comical at this point. Impeach the fuck out of him for all I care. It's an utter waste of time and normal people just don't give a shit. Trump is directing some of the greatest political theater the world has seen and the actual outcomes have almost universally been positive for everyone, complainers included.
51   RC2006   2019 Sep 25, 11:09am

This is the stuff that gets me the Dems are doing far worse things. Were was everyone with the shit the past administrations were doing, Trump hasn't came close to them. Where did the whole dossier on Trump come from all the past bullshit made up about Trump? The Clintons were running a payola scam with the Clinton Foundation totally swept under the rug along with all their other shit that dwarfs Trump. Now it looks like Biden was doing shit with his son they are all corrupt. Trump is just an asshole and not very polished with the way he handles things, sometimes even seems childish and cringy, but nowhere as corrupt as the democrats and many of the republicans. I use to go back and forth and just try to like and dislike things from both sides but democrats have went to far they are making the way republicans were with Obama look like nothing. Independents are disgusted by both parties but its just to much I think they will be pushed to the right with everything going on.
